The Elder Scrolls. Quake & Doom. Fallout. Alright.

Welcome, Bethesda, to our pantheon of all-time classics!
Today, we're happy to start a blooming new partnership with Bethesda Softworks, one that brings an impressive lineup of their unforgettable games to our DRM-free platform, and plenty of guts and nuclear smiles to our faces.

We're teaming up to release some of the greatest hits from the Bethesda vault, some DRM-free for the first time ever. I'd say it has been asked before bit I don't think I can go over 27 pages of post (as of this post) for this 1 question.

I have "Fallout classic" and "Fallout 2 classic" and just picked up the fall out bundle. Whats the difference between Fallout/Fallout 2 and Fallout/Fallout 2 classic?
Okay.

After I managed to recover from the shock (and don't get me wrong; this is fantastic!), it occurred to me that all of these were from before Bethesda's DRM-loving days.

I won't be truly impressed until we get Skyrim and Dishonored ;-)

And I can't wait until I get paid on Friday, because holy cow do I have some games to buy! :-D

Brohm: Awesome news! I still have my CE Daggerfall and my old Arena Box (3.5"). Have these games been made to work through Galaxy or do I have to go through the whole DOSBOX setup and what not?

Thanks,

Brohm
DOSBox setup? All GOG installers automatically set up the game however it needs to be set up, including the emulator if one is required. Installation creates an executable/shortcut, and all you have to do is click on it. In other words, GOG's DOS-era games do technically run through DOSBox, but you don't have to interface with it.

You know what? F*** it! I don't care if I already own them! I'm buying Doom and Quake AGAIN, just to show my support for this amazing triumph!

Man, this year...GOG has really been on fire lately.
Fantastic news! =)
Bethesda can go suck an egg

tfishell: Also I'm curious about something: Steam is still selling DOOM 3 original and Resurrection Evil outside of the BFG edition. Is there any reason GOGgers would want to see the original DOOM 3 + ResurrEvil here, as opposed to just BFG?

Grargar: Yes. For one, Doom 3 BFG is more expensive and two, not all the changes it did were well-received...
I only got doom 3 BFG recently and read about the lighting changes and compressed textures but went with BFG over original because it was mentioned it was less buggy experience. Also it was easy to fix the lighting to get it to original look by just setting overbright and lightscale to 1. Still not sure the textures look as good as original never played the original. Be good if they added lightscale and overbright settings to the graphics menu and patched bfg with uncompressed textures.
Really didn't see this one coming. Seriously. When I woke up and looked outside, I saw a large iceberg across the street (and I live in a desert). It could only mean one thing; Hell had frozen over. The sky began to Quake and quiver. I knew Doom would be upon us all. As I write this I notice a strange sight in the sky; indeed, a large group of pigs is flying above. Suddenly the impossible seemed possible. There was a strange feeling in the air. Then I came here on a Wednesday (not a usual release day) and was knocked clean out of my chair and across the room!

Bethesda had come to GOG! After all the speculation; after all the naysayers who said it could never happen; it had happened. I got out the ATM card and grabbed Doom I and The Elder Scrolls pack. Of course there had to be a problem with these old games, right? For sure Morrowind would need some fixing before it was playable. I downloaded it and clicked on the thumbnail.

That's when the beautiful music began to play. I could hold it no longer. I began to cry uncontrollably as the lovely music played. Thank you GOG and Bethesda! May this be the beginning of a great new relationship; verily a great new age!

I clicked on "new game". I had to make sure everything worked when suddenly......

(At this point, Captain Zap was pulled into his laptop screen and into the world of Morrowind in Tamriel. He will likely not be back for a while. Before he was pulled into Morrowind he left this note:
Excellent job, GOG. Thank you Bethesda. You are among friends here. Keep the good stuff coming.)
Wow, what an unexpected surprise :). Awesome partnership.
I already own these Fallouts and never liked pre-Skyrim Elder Scrolls but please keep them coming. Post-2010 titles get my money as soon as they appear here :3.

Thanks, Barry!
Oh man, this will be hard to top. What next, Rockstar? Anyway i can't wait to have Oblivion also here, the only newish TES game that i don't own yet.
HOLY SHIT!

Edit: Is there anything different about the Fallout rereleases? Are these the same as the recent Steam remasters? If I go to the purchase screen it says I don't own any of them when I clearly have all three on my shelf.
