I'm away for a bit and this happens.

Pardon my French, but what in the holy hell did you do to persuade Bethesda to release the goods here??

How many voodoo dolls did you have to torture, and how many high level Axii signs did you cast to to make them cave in?

Holy cow!

....

Thanks to Bethesda for bringing this here :)
Hope you plan to release the rest of the Elder Scrolls and Fallout series here, too!

LOL I don't know what it is, but I really like this post! Thanks! ;)
It's a big step in the right direction.
Congratulations, Team of GoG.
Now I just wished Morrowind would not be regionally priced and in generall priced a little more realistic.
My old DRM free version of Morrowind-Goty did cost around 5€.

You do not want to know what dirty favours GOG did to Bethesda. Go read Oglaf instead, it's a lot cleaner.
I didn't think we would ever see any Bethesda games make their way to GOG, so this is a pleasant surprise. Now if only they would allow some of their newer titles as well.
Woohoo! Now get Bethesda to offer Wolfenstein 2009 and I'll really be jumping for joy!

tfishell: I see Heretic + Hexen Collection (presumably complete) is a simple $9.99 elsewhere; hope GOGgers can get it for that price when the games come!

Also I'm curious about something: Steam is still selling DOOM 3 original and Resurrection Evil outside of the BFG edition. Is there any reason GOGgers would want to see the original DOOM 3 + ResurrEvil here, as opposed to just BFG?
If Star Wars X-Wing and TIE Fighter can get to have three different versions bundled together when you buy them, a possible GOG release of Doom 3 can get to have the original version and the BFG edition both.

Having both would be very appreciated. The original Doom 3 release is compatible with a lot more mods (obviously, since they were made for it after all) while the BFG edition changed the way data files are packaged and cannot load original Doom 3 mods at all. On the other hand, the BFG edition comes with a new mission pack and it's able to run the classic Ultimate Doom and Doom II, with a bonus episode (No Rest for the Living) which is considered to be very good even by the grumpy Doom grognards. So yeah when Doom 3 comes to GOG it should have both the original edition (with Resurrection of Evil) and the BFG Edition together so that we can get the best of both worlds.

Thenameiuse: Umm... You do know that you can go to The Elder Scrolls' website to get Arena and Daggerfall for free right? Like without DRM too? Not complaining about a Bethesda sale, but that's hardly an incentive.
You get the CD version of Arena (instead of floppy) so you have voice-acted cutscenes with GOG, and also there's a lot of nifty bonus items in the download that you don't get from the Bethesda site, such as the Codex Scientia and the Daggerfall Chronicles.

I agree, however Wolf 2009 was a Raven/Activision thing, so it'll be tricky. Same deal as Hexen II: Portals of Praevus expansion, or Heretic II.

Not this version of Arena, you can't. Bethesda is giving the floppy version, GOG is giving the CD version.

The question is, will Bethesda be willing to offer both at a reasonable price? Doom 3 + Resurrection of Evil costs 13 bucks, while the BFG Edition costs 30 bucks. Will people be willing to pay 30 bucks for Doom 3 + Expansion? I know I wouldn't, which is why I am in support of offering both versions separately.
Well, this has been a long time coming. It is great to see Bethesda showing some willingness to go DRM free with some of its games. Like so many others, I am sure some other items in their catalog will make their way here.

I bought the three Elder Scrolls games on sale to get the two free ones. I have never played any of these games, so getting them in one go made the most appropriate sense. I look forward to going through these games. Of course, my backlog is huge right now... Need to set some priorities when it comes to playing my backlog down.

I have the id releases in some form, but I think getting them here would be a good idea. I just cannot do it right now. I have a few days to work with this deal, so it is still good.

I had the Fallout games from before, and I am told both the 'Classic' versions and the 'BethSoft' versions have the same installer. If I did not have the Classics, the current deal would be attractive. As it is, there is no apparent advantage with obtaining the BethSoft editions right now.

Excellent work, GOG.com. I cannot wait to see what you get next.

Steam's prices for Doom make absolutely no sense and well, basically look at this wiki page and its history to see some real headscratchers there. I wouldn't really mind spending $30 if it's to get both versions of Doom 3 with their full additional content and there's no regional price stupidity like $1 = €2 the way Steam does.

Considering that Morrowind (a 10+ years old game) is sold here for €20 (and not just $20), I wouldn't be surprised if we got Doom 3 BFG for €30.
