TanguyLOZ: A prequel set before Fallout 1&2 ? Great, they will contradict (or disregards) the lore from the originals...again.
At this point it's probably best to just consider the Bethesda games to just be individual stories that happen to have very similar worlds.

Just aslong as it isn't another mess from Obsidian, I'm sure it'll be fine. Fallout 4 wasn't perfect, but it was still a rather fine game.
"Originally prototyped as a multiplayer version of Fallout 4 with the goal of envisioning what an online Fallout game might look like, Fallout 76 has evolved quite a bit over the past few years, those sources said. It will have quests and a story, like any other game from Bethesda Game Studios, a developer known for meaty RPGs like Skyrim. It will also feature base-building—just like 2015's Fallout 4—and other survival-based and multiplayer mechanics, according to those sources. One source cautioned that the gameplay is rapidly changing, like it does in many online “service” games, but that’s the core outline."

"Online multi-player Fallout 4 with games-as-a-service style mechanics"? No thank you...

Ganni1987: It will be DRM'ed and locked to Steam, not much to be excited about.
This. The exact reason I have mixed feeling about the Elder Scroll games. Which is why I look forward to more of Kingdom Come: Deliverance to substitute that fix but this is why it gets hard to "vote with your wallet".
Will probably be Fallout 4,5 if it's single player and just as shitty action game as 4 with LEGENDARY LOOT in a Fallout game, crappy story, dialogue, illusion of choice on rare occasions and uninspired perks.

If it's worst case and an online service game then fuck it because i wouldn't touch such a game with a ten foot pole.

I hope i'm wrong i really do but for now hype is dead.

GR00T: I know it's de rigeur to bash Bethesda and disparage their entries in the Fallout universe, but I love 'em. So yeah, I'm excited about this.
I wish I could take the optimistic high ground here but they've announced it as a multiplayer base-builder with grind quests. Unless they come about *hard* this isn't really going to be worth even keeping hopes up for :/

Okay, I didn't see any mention of multiplayer, so if that's the case, then yes,m it kills my interest a lot.

I was curious, so here's a take from a different article:

According to sources speaking anonymously to Kotaku, Fallout 76 reportedly will be an online survival RPG, along the lines of DayZ or Rust. According to Kotaku, Fallout 76 will still have quests and a story, as well as base building and "survival-based and multiplayer mechanics." The gameplay is "rapidly changing," though, according to Kotaku.

Ah. Well, thanks to both of you for pointing that out. Excitement killed. No longer interested.
I'm just waiting for the next Bethesda singleplayer RPG to see which path they're taking. Further down the road of Fallout 4 or if they will move back to actually making RPGs instead of action/FPS games with RPG elements. Excited for E3 to see if Starfield is real and if it's a singleplayer RPG. A Bethesda style open world sci-fi/space RPG could be amazing.
If Kotaku is right my interest wiil be zero.
Loved the first two. That's about it. So 76 doesn't interest me. I'm skipping this generation of gaming anyway, Stickin' with the Good Old Games.
They've turned Fallout into an open world action game. Might be worth picking up on sale a few years down the road but not really worth getting excited for anymore. As far as I'm concerned the last 'real' Fallout was New Vegas.
Looks like a Fallout MMO. What about The Elder Scrolls VI ? ^_^
