Lemon_Curry: Amen!

If you haven't already I highly recommend that you check out Hurwitz' latest show (created in collaboration with Pam Brady and Maria Bamford) Lady Dynamite on Netflix! It's chock-full of his trademark humour. :)

sunshinecorp: I hadn't heard of that, so thanks. Going to check it out for sure!
Cool, please let me know what you think. By the way, the pilot episode is (co-)written and directed by the man himself.
Before watching the show I only knew Bamford from her role as the recovering (sorta) methadone addict DeBrie Bardeaux in the latest season of Arrested Development - a character that is the epitome of cringeworthy - so it's been a real pleasure getting to know her better as a comedienne. Her style is truly unique, unorthodox and deeply personal: 'Maria Bamford Stand-Up 11/08/11 - CONAN on TBS' (the baby Jesus part, in particular, cracks me up every time I watch it).

Best - Married... with Children

The undisputed champion.

Worst - The Big Bang Theory

I think I watched about four or five random episodes of it and it didn't even make me grin once. It's the least funny and most annoying sitcom I have ever seen in my life, and I saw some really crappy ones. It blows my mind how this garbage became so successful.

vicklemos: I know only one afrikaans pop song which is, of course, Bok Van Blerk - De La Rey.
I mean, quite a polemic one, I know ;P
Wow ok, you got some afrikaans family or something? Someone knowing about die antwoord doesn't surprise me, but De La Rey on the other hand :)

I haven't heard it in a while, but it used to be quite popular. It's a slightly ok song, but it thrived really well I think because of the generally despondent feeling among afrikaans people.
It was annoyingly popular at pubs for a while. I know I used to live across the street from several pubs, and around 10pm I would suddenly hear 20+ people suddenly break out in song singling De La Rey.
Seeing as a lot of people mention The Big Bang Theory as the worst (I hate it too, but I'm sure there are worse things out there) I have to say that I can't understand how ANYTHING but Chuck Lorre is successful at all. His "humor" (I put it in quotes because I don't even think you can call it that) is less than juvenille. Fart jokes are better.
Best:

Yes, Minister & Yes, Prime MInister.
Black Adder II, III & IV.
Sledge Hammer.
Married with Children.
Father Ted.
The Detectives (with Robert Powell and Jasper Carrott).

Worst:

Seinfeld. (OK, probably not the worst, but hugely overrated, IMHO.)

What about Black Books? Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? Snuff Box? The IT Crowd? Fawlty Towers? BLACK ADDER THE FIRST?! Some other english shows I loved but forget their names right now?!

Well, he did the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles theme song, that's pretty cool.

He should have stuck with theme songs, then. :)

Black Books rule! http://imgur.com/gallery/KBzNOlA
and those two, Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran, both have some incredible standup routines

Agreed. Though Dylan Moran has disappeared. However, Bill Bailey reigns supreme.

That's a pity. Hopefully he's just taking a break. According to this interview by December last year he had been on the road for 8 solid months

No, not at all. Should I? ;D
Some of us, outsiders with a lot of curiosity, studied a little about some african countries and their independence processes. Would love to visit SA, though.

Yep, heard that this song was stirring some, uh, local ""pride"" and all. No joke and I'm not trying to be mean, but you folks are (in a much smaller scale) stereotypically portrayed much like australians/british/north americans in some parts of the world: alcoholics who go to the pub every friday night just to eat peanuts/watch sports (rugby in your case ;P). My thought is that you dudes are way beyond that - and also that tv was lying/folks like that artwoord clip are, uh, "white SA trash"-, right? :P

Well... I can't follow his tours. All I can get is DVDs. :)

Bouchart: In my experience people either love Seinfeld and hate Friends or love Friends and hate Seinfeld. If anyone here loves both of them I'd really like to hear from you.
Shyly raising hand..... Seinfeld lover here (oops, that sounds sexual) but even if Friends is sometimes cringing it's still watchable for some mindless laughter when dinner is cooking or so.

The series has clearly 3 types of humor:
- The Rachel/Ross duo which is the lamest IMO and which sadly inspired many modern sitcoms.
- The Monica/Chandler duo which is more interesting as it's geared at a more "aged "public (thus more relatable).
- The Phoebe/Joey duo which are the wackos thus I love them ^o^

The seasons varies greatly as in the beginning there was a lot of focus on Rachel/Ross storyline. It gets better around season 3 or 4 when the Monica/Chandler storyline starts then the series goes downhill and repetitive in the latest seasons.

How could I forget Father Ted.
Funniest show of all time.
