Soap

I LOVED Soap! It was so funny! All of the over-the-top soap opera drama. Most all of the characters were likable; I loved Chester, Burt, Jodie, Benson.

I know this one, it's Game of Silence, isn't it?
As for How I Met Your Mother, which has been mentioned here a few times, I agree with most that has been said: The first couple, maybe three, seasons were actually quite funny. Especially because of Barney though. The rest of the cast played some really obnoxious characters, especially Ted, which was obviously the Ross of this series. Then the series went downhill and kept going that way down to the very end. I was still suffering from TV OCD though, and I kept watching even though I hated it (I've since been cured and now quit series that I don't like very easily). It had one of the worst endings possible in a TV series. It was complete and utter shite.

Anyway, it should have been called "The Amazing Barney and Some Really Boring and Obnoxious Other People and Then They Ruin Barney Too". :P

jimmmmmo: Best: Quantum Leap - Best sci-fi series i have seen second to DS9. Travelling through time, leaping into other people's bodies in important social/historical events, the character development was great and writing was top notch. I absolutely recommend this series to anyone who wants to watch a memorable tv series - its not just for sci-fi fans either! :D

Worst: Rab C Nesbitt - its utter shite haha. Shows like still game are million times bester than rab c nesbitt. I couldn't watch past the 3rd episode, its boring, repeated lame jokes and felt like a chore watching an episode.
Did you see the vampire episode? It was so mysterious and basically ends on a cliffhanger. I should watch more of this TV series.

Also Forever Knight is great, it really changed the TV detective genre when it came out and influenced the TV series genre as a whole. :)

Yeah it was a great episode, the rest of the series and well worth watching too
For some reason, i'm stuck in the past. I like stuff like Cheers, Frasier, M.A.S.H., Three's Company, Who's the Boss?!, Taxi, Sledge Hammer, Black Adder, The Thin Blue Line, but i still have to see a modern sitcom series to actually get more than a smile from me. I don't know, maybe i am crazy:)

or maybe the modern crap just isnt funny ?

mash is more a dark satire though
and then it becomes a drama with comedy bits

Well, M.A.S.H. can be probably be sloted in a lot of genres. Kind of covers many of them. And you are probably right about the modern stuff. Watching again comedy movies from the thirties to nineties will make me laugh a lot more than the stuff they label in our days as comedy.

same here

it's all "how stupid or how big of an asshole can I be?" and the more the funnier, it's gross and a problem with society, imo.
As much as I like a good sitcom, I find that the real laugh out loud moments tend to come from good cartoon shows. The closest I've ever come to laughing myself half to death was when I watched Ed Edd and Eddy. The one where they destroy Jimmy's room, and later on Johnny's entire house is my favorite. That show know how to do physical humour!

Just the kind of woman I love, women with a lot of character are the best.
USA Presidential Election 2016 has got to be one of the worst sitcoms ever.

I hear it's being cancelled in November...
Best: Soap
Worst: Golden Girls
Black Books is my favourite hands down. Bernard is such a life affirming guy ironically enough. I still haven't finished watching Black Adder but I will..someday!!

While technically it's a comedy drama, I still think it's worth mentioning given its sitcom like structure:
Ed

Unfortunately it was never released on DVD, it's on torrents and some episodes on YouTube in low quality but I was hooked right in the beginning of the pilot. It's hilarious and smart.
