ktchong: No. 97, Freedom Force at 90%, 2002. GOG had Freedom Force vs The Third Reich (85%, 2005), but not Freedom Force.
FTFY.

Great game, BTW, although it's not really turn-based. It's real-time with active pause.;

In my opinion, Gorky 17 is one of the most underappreciated turn-based games ever.

Removed from my list then.
Great thread.
Going to have to give X-Com another look.
Thanks guys.

I like Monopoly games too, especially The Millionaire Of 3 Kingdoms V

mrkgnao: By "first King's Bounty", do you mean the original game from 1990, or King's Bounty: The Legend?

I have never played the former, but have played the latter three times from start to finish (once on Normal difficulty, twice Impossible).

Assuming you mean The Legend, then, while there is some randomisation in what you get as options on level up and a few of the armies you can recruit in some places, its overall effect is quite minimal. AFAIK, no matter what you get, you can complete the game. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have never had to recreate a character.

This does not mean you don't have to choose wisely your level up bonuses, it just means that what you'll get to choose from will be more than enough. It's a very well balanced game.

Gnostic: Yes it is The Legend. I have this OCD to max min everything, so the randomness is eating at me.
I assume the subsequent series is the same?
For The Legend there is an interface mod which shows you all future levelup bonuses, amongst a heap of other useful things. It's the topmost download from here, *I think* - been a while since I used it.

Edit: yeah, mod_17_eng_interface is the one - English only, it seems, not sure if there are other language versions.

I am a huge turn-based tactical strategy fan. To that end, I recommend the following:

GOG
* Silent Storm Complete
* Jagged Alliance 2
* Frozen Synapse (plan, set, see the result in real-time)
* Fallout Tactics

Steam
* Frozen Cortex (plan, set, see the result in real-time)
* X-Com Enemy Unknown Complete

CDRom
* Soldiers At War (old SSI game - I am not aware of a digital version but you can find the cdrom on Amazon and the like) Only DRM is a cd-check

I hope that helps
I'd say XCOM (The new ones, haven't played the old ones.) or Heroes of Might and Magic (Haven't played 1, 2 and 7.).

Yeah I deserved that, and the low rating. XD
After a quick skim, it seems no one has mentioned some that are in my favorites list:

Still hoping we someday get Allied & Star.

I only say Sid Meier. His turn based games are mostly fantastic. Oh, and Schafkopfen, it`s a 4 player PVP card game!!
I'd say the old X-Com series.
Good luck!
I can't recommend "King's Bounty: The Legend" enough! I love KB, and most of the sequels are good as well (imho not Warriors). It's a very long game, with lots and lots of content that took me over 100+ hours to finish. I liked the story, and that you can pick whatever troops you want, be they fairies, dwarves, skeletons, vampires, plants, DRAGONS, etc.
