Hello!


There's a few sites out there that let you compare computer parts, which one is the best? Like if I want to compare two CPUs or GPUs.

I've been using userbenchmark, but I've read somewhere the information on that site is inaccurate. Sometimes the information can vary between sites. I remember back in December I was looking for a new CPU. One site showed little difference between the one I had and my (new) CPU, and another site showed a sizable difference in performance.

Not sure if it's (or can be classed as) the 'best', but for simplicity I always go to https://www.cpubenchmark.net/ for my CPU and GPU comparisons.

Here's an example of the kind of discrepancy I was talking about. I'm comparing an RTX 2060 to an RX 6800. Userbenchmark is showing a difference of 59%. GPUcheck gives four different values, none of which are 59%.

Look for benchmarks for the game you want to play.

I know what it's like to spend a lot of time on a post only for it to vanish when I try to post it. Makes me want to throw my PC out the window haha.

The Youtube channel GamersNexus does its best to be fair and scientific.

Also they have a lot of scoops on the really bad hardware/firmware that gets released.

Even if you don't use it as your primary reference they are well worth keeping tabs on.

Userbenchmark isn't very good at comparing items from different manufacturers. It shows more in CPUs than GPUs, but they have a definite anti-AMD bias (read some of the reviews of the zen 2 and zen 3 chips if you want a good laugh); they also use a very unclear and poorly defined eFPS metric for CPUs.

Generally, for GPUs, I look at benchmarks and feature set rather than a HW comparison site - so agree with Themken. Make sure you're looking at benchmarks for your display resolution as well; this can make a big impact with lower end GPUs like the 2060.

I don't know much about the RX 6800 - I've always bought nVidia cards (I migrated from 3dfx to an old Ati card that I absolutely hated and then have been with nVidia ever since - recently for G-sync and RTX)
