What's the best Role Playing Game (RPG) ever made (in your opinion)?

Here are some really good ones:
Final Fantasy 7
Ultima 7
The Witcher 3
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Call Of Duty Infinite Dislikes
Fallout
Planescape torment
Skyrim

Torment has the best, best-written and most engrossing story by a country mile. Ultima VII was a breakthrough and a game-changer. Fallout's system is difficult to beat. The Elder Scrolls were akin to fantasy sims in their respective eras. And so on.

Overall, I'd say that, even though The Witcher 3 isn't better than all those other games in all categories and on all levels, it is so good on so many of them, inching close to perfection on several, and so difficult to point flaws at that aren't nitpicky, that it ultimately takes the cake.

Others' mileage might and most assuredly will vary.

This is a very subjective question, which I think is great and I can't wait to see what answers show up.

Do the KOTOR games count as RPGs?

In my opinion Morrowind is the best RPG because it has a gigantic amount of depth to it.
You can literally go steal the souls of gods and make super powerful items with their souls. All games do.

Best? I don't know. My favourite would probably be the first Witcher. I love the mood, the atmosphere of the world, the characters, the music, visual style. I even like the much maligned combat a lot. But it's not perfect, it's not flawless. So I can't say it's the best. That's always a tricky term when discussing things so subjective, and when choices are so diverse.

While I wouldn't call it the best, Anachronox still deserves a lot more recognition. That game is amazing.

Well, I think that Neverwinter Nights is a very good one.

That's too difficult. Different times, different expectations as a person as you change over time. I could go with most of that list (apart from final fantasy) but there are so many more. How is call of duty an rpg?
