pearnon: For the same reason that O Fortuna isn't called Excalibur's music.
If there was a poll of best movie tracks O Fortuna might show up for Excalibur. And why not?

I think one thing that hampers all the Amiga games with their really awesome soundtracks is the minimal impact the platform had in the US. US players are PC or console players. Amiga was only successful in Europe.
That's true though there are a lot of euros around here (and I'm posting these at lemonamiga as well).

ResidentLeever: Again, check youtube. This is just a poll with like 20-30 people at most participating. Actually some of the more popular older vids have probably been removed as happens from time to time on there but I know Turrican 1-2 have had 100s of thousands of views at least.

I didn't see much of a crowd around those street musicians though. :P
I have checked Youtube, and I'll take your word about the "more popular older vids" that have been removed, but you can also find Monkey Island videos with 100s of thousands of views. Heck, Monkey Island's mt32 midi music video has over 800k.

If you can find a video of French street musicians playing Turrican, we can compare the crowd size.

Because you don't get acclaim for material you didn't create. It'd be like a game using Unreal engine winning a Best Engine award, or Man of Steel winning Best Trailer Music for using a track from Elizabeth.

So your original claim was that Turrican wasn't popular, and now it is that monkey island is also popular? I didn't say it wasn't.

I could post a bunch of cover videos and I think there are some orchestral concerts as well, but that seems silly to me.
Ni no Kuni is one of my favorite soundtracks of recent memory, and it's funny because I didn't like playing the game. Every town was just a collect-a-thon and I finally gave up after the third one.

Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said, alluded to or even implied that Turrican wasn't popular. Only that Monkey Island is more popular, and has a much wider and more diverse appeal outside of gaming circles.

And yes, posting cover videos and orchestral concerts would indeed be silly, as I could do the same. Do you really want to keep beating this dead horse, when yours has lost in the very poll you posted and you've already moved on to others?

And you did, and it was indeed quite silly.

You keep responding and twisting things, so if anyone is doing that it's you. And I didn't vote for Turrican so you're wrong again.

There's definitely some twisting going on here, like when you dreamt up me having said that Turrican wasn't popular. In case you're also feeling dreamy about the video bit:

Posting a video of street musicians to show the wider appeal of an OST outside of gaming circles
does not equal
Posting cover videos and orchestral concerts to show what we've already established (both OSTs are popular)

Whatever you voted for, you're having a really hard time letting go of this perceived offense to Turrican.

I am going to say/put Xixit...

Music is effectively modplug files, and i played the game PURELY to listen to the music.
^Good one but isn't it from 1995?

None taken, just pointing out where you went wrong. I'll leave you to die on your hill/street now

Projection is all you have to give, apparently.
