Crackpot.756: Torchlight, yes! I have a gift code, if you're interested (though at this point, I'm kinda guessing everyone and their dog does). TinyE told me to come here, I think!
(Side note, I've played Torchlight myself, it's fun. I had a ferret.)
In Torchlight 2 you can have a head crab. Yes, head crab, as in Half-Life. :P

Confession: I know quite a bit about Half-Life, but I've never played more than half an hour of it. Considering your aversion to Steam due to the whole online thing, I can't tell whether you have.

Either way, Torchlight is still fun - for a while. My mind just can't deal with the repetition and overabundance of loot, but I think that's a thing in dungeon crawlers.
How about Dungeon Hack? It's in Forgotten Realms Archives 3 (With Menzoberranzan)

I have the original HL on disc which has none of that Steam crap. Problem is I don't know if it will run on any PC under ten years old. :P I just dug out the disc and I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow.

I couldn't find the original that was made when steam launched so this will have to do. :)

If you do go the route of torchlight 2 I can definitely recommend Synergies mod which can be found on moddb.
I would recommend Hammerwatch a pure fast paced Hack&Slash Dungeon game. Really fun to play and very addictive.

I second Hammerwatch. It's very good, and more similar to the old Gauntlet arcade game than a Diablo-clone.

Path of Exile is also great. The game Diablo 3 should have been IMO, but made as a F2P title without the P2W aspects. You just buy pretty cosmetic things.

My favourite though, is probably Recettear. It's a dungeon crawler and a shop management sim. You hire heroes to go on adventures for you (which you then control) and they collect loot which you then sell in your store. It's also really adorable.

Ah yeah, Hammerwatch is cool! But it`s very hard and unforgiving, even if you set the game options for an easier game. And it`s not really an RPG, you don`t get XP, you collect money and can buy powerups at certain traders, but you have to find those traders first.
+1 for Torchlight II
Hammerwatch is awesome, I wasn't sure at first but once you get going it becomes addictive really quickly, you get further each time you play it. It is REALLY tough though and can be a little off putting when you start out.

Other than that Torchlight 1 & 2 are decent but be prepared for Diabloesque RSI!!

Nox is another hack n slash game in the Diablo style of doing things, really good game with some nice locations.

There is also Sacred which is massive and again the same stylings as Diablo, again nice locations and decent enemies, a little tough initially but once you start levelling up you get further. Sacred 2 is ok, must admit preferred the original over the sequels.

Also worth checking out :

Divine Divinity
Lionheart
Eschalon series
Darkstone

Mine ran just fine a few years back. Give it a shot!

That said, I too seem to only get 1/2 hour into it and then quit. :) I played the MP to pieces back in '99 or '00 (dorm's T1and LAN parties were awesome -- woot!).

As for the OP, someone mentioned Divine Divinity. I'll 2nd that one.

Also, give Path of Exile a try. I didn't get too far in it, but it was really good. http://store.steampowered.com/app/238960/

Lastly, Neverwinter nights. There are deep RPG modules, and light hack-n-slash. That game's my baby! Luckily I found it after I was done with all my schooling. Otherwise, I'd be working at Burger King.

Wait wait wait wait XD
You said it was very fin and now you are telling me you only played it for 30 minutes! :P I play games I hate longer than that! XD
I totally agree that the Diablo and Torchlight series are among the most boringester boringfests of boredom that I've ever tried to play.

I mean technically it ran. But then a more important RPG got in the way (I think Demonicon took over for that one :D).

I like what I've played, I just don't keep playing it. I'll have to give it another go some time soon.
