herecomethe2000: GoG not releaseing FOSS titles on grounds they are FOSS is really the point of the thread.

JMich: I can guarantee you then that Red Eclipse was not rejected for being FOSS. But that is the "nicest" way to reject that game.
There are many reasons GOG may reject a game, that should they become public, it will do more harm than it's worth. So they usually give a reason that is more believable, even if still questionable by people (the "too niche" I mentioned earlier).
Well I'll be proven wrong, and happily so, when they release another FOSS title. But until then.

They won't. Unless there comes an excellent FOSS title that will bring quite a few people over, they won't have any reason to release one. And I don't recall any such titles in the last decade or so.

Aw common, I could think of quite a few non FOSS titles that are no where near as good as some of those on the list, yet still are on GoG. I must whole heartily disagree with your argument.

Yes. Because those are not free, thus GOG may recoup the cost of having them here. A FOSS game, by definition, is free, thus the only benefit GOG gets if they release it here is the extra crowd it may draw. How many new people do you think a FOSS will bring GOG?
One Must Fall: 2097
Some high quality free games I know

It doesn't. Considering it offers "free full game download" of recent (as in, last week recent) commercial games, it's a piracy site. And seeing how it asks you to watch videos and download weird files, a very shady one as well.

Actually, having a good curated catalog of polished, supported free games could be a very compelling feature. Especially considering that these days people like to have all or most of their games in a single "library" where they can always find them, tag them, keep track of updates, etcetra. As far as I know, there is no such thing for free games. So to find these, you're stuck crawling thru random forum threads like this and checking the websites... actually, there are lots of really nice free games out there that I should be playing but am not because I've gotten lazy about keeping track of them :(

OpenTTD (Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe), 'nuff said
I made a game called GAME CHRONOLOGY which is free, if you bother to print and cut it! It's a clone of the TIMELINE cardgame, but based on the history of video games.

The rules:
game-chronology-rules.pdf

Instructions on how to print the thing:
game-chronology-howto-print.pdf

The game itself: (stuff to print out)
game-chronology.pdf
life-points.pdf
^So much this. Have you checked out OpenRCT2 yet? It's still a little bit unstable for me, but mostly it works really well.
