Freedom always comes at a price…

Phantom Liberty, a spy-thriller expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, arrives on GOG on September 26th, and you can pre-order it now. But before you dive into the dystopian reality of Night City yet again, let’s recap everything that comes along!

If you haven’t had a chance to lay yourself on the title just yet, Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure RPG set in the megalopolis of Night City, where you play as V, a cyberpunk mercenary wrapped up in a do-or-die fight for survival. In the full-fledged expansion, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, you return as the cyber-enhanced mercenary and embark on a high-stakes mission of espionage and intrigue to save the NUSA President. In the dangerous district of Dogtown, you must forge alliances within a web of shattered loyalties and sinister political machinations.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is arriving to all platforms on September 26th, 2023 – and alongside the release, a variety of incredible offers for Cyberpunk 2077 series enthusiasts. Let’s take a look, shall we?

Upon pre-ordering Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, you’ll get a chance to unlock a brand new in-game vehicle, but that’s not all – do you have a GOG account? You’re in luck! You’ll also receive a set of incredible rewards for true CD PROJEKT RED fans. You can expect The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt themed items, such as clothing and magnificent witcher sword, as well as Gwent: The Witcher Card Game themed T-shirt and a stylized gun. You can redeem them as easily as three years ago, during the release of Cyberpunk 2077 – but you can be sure, this time the rewards are even cooler. And be on the lookout; because there's even more to come!

Interested in more cyberpunk vibes? We got you! Everything you need to know about the universe, can be found HERE, on our special page dedicated to Cyberpunk 2077. And...

To make the pre-order even more exciting, your must-check is our brand new Cyberpunk Essentials Collection. The titles you’ll find there will only build up the hype, and feed your dystopian fantasies until the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty release! And to make it even better, we decided to give it a little twist. If you buy any game from the Collection before June 30th, 10PM UTC, you’ll receive the Cyberpunk Essentials Gift Pack! The Gift Pack is totally optional and claimable via email, and contains a copy of Akane that you'll receive on July 4th, 2023, and the copy of the GOG-chan 3D model that will be available to you on September 26th, 2023. The GOG-chan model is an exclusive 3D-printer-ready figurine wearing a cyberpunk-esque attire!

It’s also worth remembering that each game you buy on GOG is, truly, just yours. Thanks to our DRM-free policy, if you decide to purchase Cyberpunk 2077 or Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty here, the game is yours, forever, with no restrictions – our offline installers make sure of that.

Pre-order Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, as well as Cyberpunk 2077 & Phantom Liberty Bundle that contains both base game and the newest expansion, and is discounted -30% until July 3rd – see you in Night City!

arugulaKhan: This.

It's odd that people who give GoG money and have an account get special treatment, but people who just give 'em money aren't worth the effort.

I would have thought the money -- and not the account -- was the key factor in a transaction...
It's actually the usage of their heretofore OPTIONAL client to get the rewards. A completely arbitrary and bullshit requirement. I use Galaxy, but on my Steam Deck (which runs on Linux by default), it's not the best option (it IS doable, but with extra complicating steps and in turn, it extends the launch time).

Nothing on GOG shoulds be hidden bewhind online authentication, or behind using a client that doesn't even support Linux.

Mortius1: You may want to turn your volume up. All of the dialogue is going to be in hushed whispers.

The Dewey Decimal cybernetic implant comes highly recommended.
Shhh :)

CP already has silenced weapons, the Soft-sole clothing mod and Lynx Paws... All the signs were pointing towards the Phantom Library -- we just didn't see it.

"Pre-order items and cosmetics are stupid and are ruining gaming! Also this game isn't DRM free because without Galaxy I don't get my precious pre-order cosmetics!!!"

These two ideas aren't mutually exclusive. Obviously someone cares or we wouldn't be talking about it.

Everyone who has commented and / or upvoted cares. Everyone who has upvoted the DRM-Free request for Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 cares.

First of all, those are not cosmetics. They are items with stats that can be upgraded all the way to legendary. Phantom liberty may change how clothing works, but weapons will still have stats. Even if they were purely cosmetic, that wouldn't change a thing. Cosmetics are just as important as stats in an RPG to many people. People want to buy the whole game DRM-Free without any online account activation requirements on a DRM-Free-focused store.

If an item sits on my hard drive in a single player game, I should have access to it. Period.

If you let them get away with this, they won't stop. Gaming industry has proven many times that predatory practices are a slippery slope. "Cosmetics" today, exclusive missions tomorrow.

We want the OLD CDPR back, which did not exploit FOMO and offered 100% of the game DRM-Free.

Unfortunately, too many. Never cared about trivial special cosmetics and other fluff items (especially in a mostly first-person game). More often than not they also end up looking quite out of place.

P-E-S: especially in a mostly first-person game
1) First person with full body awareness.
2) Real life is first person too, why care how you look there?

If you can ignore "cosmetics" and fluff, that's good for you, but "not caring" may very well be interpreted as "accepting" for all they know. And then next time we'll get entire missions as "Bonuses".

If this was any other developer or store, we could write it off as another lost cause, another good developer gone bad. But this is GOG and this is a 1st party game. This is the one place where Micro-DRM should not be tolerated.

Or DLC-exclusive companions.
Could just as easily be turned into Galaxy-exclusive or preorder-exlusive companions.

Those times are coming to an inevitable end, I'm afraid. Not from one day to the next and hopefully not before most of us are going to have to give up on this wonderful recreational activity for various reasons, but gradually and with each member of the old CDPR guard (like Iwiński) retiring and being replaced by people from later generations who while going through their formative years have been conditioned to give less of a toss about ethics in video game business, game preservation and especially games being offered truly DRM-free.

Didn't a bunch of ex-CDPR peeps set up a new studio?

Not that I have any expectations regarding them, but anyway..

SNEG are also former GOG, specifically the Good Old Games guys.

You both raise some good points, but I still care, unfortunately. I think we're going to have to agree to disagree.
I can add money to my Steam wallet however CD Project RED hide all their games for my region there. There is absolutely NO way to add funds to my GOG wallet, not that I know of, but I can see CDP games and add them to my cart here at GOG.

That's a brilliant way to tease your *condemned* clients! ;)

Anyway I wouldn't pre-order the Phantom Liberty expansion / DLC only because I heard that's what is killing gaming industry lately, and I don't want another Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 situation

(anything above could be meant in sarcastic way)

*chuckles*

I've said it ad nauseum. It's not WHAT is behind a DRM online check, it's THAT there is a DRM online check. Further erosion of DRM free can't be allowed. It's like that scene in We Happy Few where everyone is eating rat guts but they don't realize it. Just take your Joy and ignore the DRM.
