I got some honey from a farmers market not so long ago. It had very little flavor. I wondered if there was something fishy going on, but then I was like "Its a farmers market dude, of course its legit. I just don't know my honey that well."

  

Here we used to have a product which is part butter (=voi) and "margarine" (=margariini, meaning made of vegetable oils). Its brand name was "Voimariini", ie. the name itself is also a mix of both "butter" and "margariine". I guess in English it would be like "Butterine" or something. :)

Anyway, EU apparently noticed it and demanded them to change the name as it is not allowed to include the name "butter" ("voi") in the name unless it is pure butter, or maybe certain percentage of it has to be butter before it can include the name.

Anyway, they maker of the product quickly fixed the problem by renaming it as "Oivariini", dropping the first character from the name. Problem solved, take that you damn EU!

And I am pretty sure I have told this truly amazing and interesting story before, as repetition is the mother of all learning.

my father in law keeps bees, get stung many times a yr but loves it. lives for those moments when he can catch a swarm on the move as they follow the queen bee. its rather tough to keep hives alive thru harsh winters, disease etc

I would pay triple if a farmer would give me a suit to accompany him to the beehive and scrape the honey off into my own glass bottle. That's the only way to be sure! Unless of course the bees are in on the fraud :P

Well, yeah, butter is purely made from milk, no vegetable-based components. If you have vegetable-based stuff in it, it's margarine. Thus you can't really have a butter/margarine mix, either it's butter (made 100% from milk), or it's magarine (anywhere from 100% vegetable-based up to-but-not-including 100% milk).

Not cool. Better play Secret World Legends. In this MMO bees give you superpowers.
