From what I've read a lot of people gave if it a lot of flak because of changes in the interface.
Personally I was okay with the changes and liked the improved graphics and more diverse scenery.
The story is somewhat less though but still entertaining enough.

Well yeah, they could have done a bit more with it. But maybe they're testing the waters with this release to see what the reception would be like for a full sequel?

I loved the original game but i would not buy this new one.....

There was a big community expansion to the game, which i found it was just too hard.

So after seeing that hard assed direction fans liked the game to take, i want no further part of it.

It is a common theme for me with real time games.... i dropped off the Warcraft series after 2 for exactly the same reason.

people generally seem to like games getting significantly harder, i don't.

You mean around June time then, they just have to get GOGworks running first, and tidy up GOGlight.

Pretty much, and a very well made one at that. You can pilot a wide variety of hovercraft (and at least one kind of mech) and use an interface to give orders like: ordering units/harvesters around; placing buildings ([url=http://battlezone.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Buildings]list[/url]); manufacturing hovercraft, turrets, weapons and ammo; calling in artillery and weapon/ammo drops etc.

You can walk around on foot as well, when switching between vehicles or when using your powerful sniper rifle to snipe the cockpit of an enemy hovercraft so that you can commandeer it.

I'd suggest directly contacting to inform them that you would like to purchase Battlezone 98 Redux on GOG to to show that there is interest and significant market for it to be offered on GOG. Imagine what actually might come to pass if people would more promptly directly contact the publishers with their concerns instead of just complaining on the GOG forums. I doubt many publishers are monitoring GOG's forums to find out which games members are complaining about being unavailable on GOG.
