Battletech is set far in the future, hopefully there won't be any white men around then anymore. White men have been responsible for colonialism, slavery and the Holocaust. They should just disappear. The world will be a better place when they're no longer around.

Should it have ethnic swapping of previously already established chars in the BattleTech Universe I would be offended; does that count? (Although I would be regardless in what direction the swap goes).

Where did you get the idea that whites were rare in battletech. Yes the nations, even those that culturally favor one region of Earth strongly, are melting pots but how fail to see how you think melting pots would reduce one ethnic group to critical levels.

And while one of the three nations that originally settled the region the game takes place in is Chinese focused culturally they still have strong components from other ethnic groups. Just like how one of the three nations is a firm matriarchy but the others don't care about a person's gender much, if at all

Oddly enough, the game features several Capellans, none of whom look Chinese, but Latino-ish. And for some reason you get a contract from an Ana Maria Centrella who's also Latino or white. The Centrellas (i.e. the female ruling family of the Magistracy of Canopus) in the game's background, however, are black.
Haven't found a white guy in the game yet who's not a villain, and it's really difficult to build a blonde player character. Oh well.

To be fair, Johnny Depp is, afaik, part native american.

Okay to respond to this thread... Hmm. I'm just going to say that any form of racism, is racism. I haven't seen the game for myself, so I can't judge it, but I know some of the members of the dev team, and if this is what they felt they wanted to do for their vision, so be it.

They don't strike me as the type of people who would do tokenism just to have X number of POC's in there. The studio is multi racial/cultural and very diverse, as well as based out of Seattle, which is a more progressive city compared to some cities dev studios come from.

I'm not trying to stick up for them (Okay maybe a little bit, I love the shit out of some of the people on the dev team and have ever since I saw them on HyperRPG) but honestly, as a white person, as long as it fits with the developers' vision and white people aren't portrayed as demons or slave drivers to the extent that's ALL they're portrayed as, I don't care.

I´m pretty sure that it is stated clearly in at least one of the early novels. But it´s been a while since I read the novels, so i might remember wrong.

Slavery has been around since before recorded history began. No one knows who thought it up. And most first generation Africans slaves were enslaved by either Arabs, who also enslaved many Europeans, or other Africans before being sold to Europeans.

Claiming whites invented slavery is BS just like the part in the Black Panther movie where an American is accused of helping colinize Africa even though

1: The US had nothing to do with the colonization of Africa. The US had one small colony set up as a homeland for former slaves.

2: The conquest of Africa was long after the US broke off from Europe, and long after Liberia was granted its independence.

Well I'm asian and grew up in Africa. I'm actually tired of seeing whites, blacks and asians. Give me something exotic like latinas or middle easterns babes anyday.

1. White men are NOT responsible for slavery. In history, all Races have been slavers at one point or another. Africans owned and sold slaves to white people. Middle east and Muslim men owned African slaves which they neutered. People have slaved eachother and not just because `race`, but due to war, debt, etc.

Also it was white, Christian men that went hard on ending Slavery in the West.

To blame white people alone is wrong, foolish and stupid. Go educate yourself, please.

2. The region of space in the game should not matter at all to whether you get blonde haired people or not, except you`d just see LESS blonde haired people, not NONE at all. Even Aborigine people can have blonde haired children and what about people who just want to DYE their hair bonde? We see many people in the real world who dye their hair blonde such as young Japanese people.

White guys, especially men, you need to stand up and complain when racism\sexism is thrown at you. Stop being guilted by disengenuous people with an agenda against you.

I, as a Black man, can only fight for you so far, but I can`t do anything if you guys don`t fight too.



p.s. Oh and as for those saying that white men are over-represented in the media, this is America, or Europe which is predominantly white. Why don`t you go to Africa or the Middle East or even japan and tell them there should be more white or black people there? No? You just want to pick on the easy-target white man again?
