I don't believe that simply not having some group (any combination of skin color/gender/sexual orientation) represented is discrimination. Thinking like that only leads to ridiculous tokenism. As long as the game/book/movie whatever is good I honestly don't care if there's not a single white guy there, or if all the characters are white guys.
I agree with this, though I am curious about why this is the case in the new Battletech.

I read about 50 of the Battletech novels and iirc in the fictive future Battletech takes place the most races mixed, so that pure white people where an absolute minority. The biggest ethnic groups (in Battletech canon) are Asians, because the Draconis Combine (Japanese) and the Capellan Confederation (Chinese) isolated themselves more than the other Great Houses.

Yes, whites were a clear minority - sure.

Battletech had always female mechwarriors and diverse factions, perhaps not as diverse as people in todays time would like and make it to be. In the Era Reports you have leaders and notable characters which are PoC and also women, even in the old printings of the technical readouts you have exemplary female mechwarriors mentioned for specific loadouts of mechs.

I would not call the game racist, at the start it takes place in a no name periphery region and who knows of which people the population is composed of. That being said, they push the progressive agenda hard. And the writing is nowhere near as good as in the Shadowrun games.
