Starmaker: (Keep in mind that a young Western child typically doesn't have opposite-sex peers -- his reference for how boys and girls behave is the terrible sexist media. Playmates are same-sex, and siblings have too much of an age difference.)
Not going to comment on anything else but who do you mean by "young Western child" and where did you get that impression from? At least over here I don't see such a divide between sexes among young children, they often have boys and girls as playmates, and the age difference between siblings can be as small as one year (which might be much at a very, very young age, but not that much anymore in kindergarden and beyond).

LootHunter: Because all non-white people use the same left-wing approved and politically correct terms like "black" for person of purely african descent and "person of color" for person of mixed heritage?
It's not about 'left wing approved', it's knowing black people from all manner of backgrounds and knowing how they talk. If you're Russian you may not understand how stupid "African type black" sounds in English. It's not the way black people of any background refer to themselves.

Black people in the west come across racism every day. From small things like stereotypes, to not getting jobs/promotions to being abused and attacked in the street. In nearly every game the protagonist is white, I don't care it's not racist in itself.
On that basis no black man in the west is complaining about not being given a choice of a white character given the fact that 10,000s of games don't give you a choice of a black character. It's completely laughable
I still think you're looking too deeply into the substance of the game than is necessary. I've been keeping up with all of Enter Elysium's gameplay videos and didn't pick up on any of that. The games politics seem fairly volumetric, but the crux of the game revolves around assisting Lady Arano, who wants to reinstate her constitutional monarchy by taking planets back from uncle. If anything it could be argued that Lady Arano looks and sounds fairly Pacific Islander.

Which part is laughable: that no black person is griping about having to play as a white person, or that some developers don't expand the color palette a little bit?

I would find both a bit odd. If I were black, it ~might~ become irritating to most usually not be able to have a little bit of choice when creating the character I'm supposed to be roleplaying. And on the developer side, wouldn't it make marketing sense to give more people what they want, from the standpoint that it might attract customers without being a large design burden and without making fundamental changes to the game?

That's not an argument against what you said. As a member of the cracker majority, maybe I don't notice these small things that could be found, well, if not racist then maybe lazy(?) across so many games.

At any rate, I'm in favor of having choices. If being a Samoan gender-alphabet-soup character is your thing, then hopefully you can find a game that scratches the itch. If a developer feels the need to include these things, I'd rather it be done on the player-creation side than clumsily thrown into the story to try to be all-inclusive.

This... especially in RPGs.

Ok, I won't argue with the last one, because I never was in US (and you saying "English" and "in the west" essentially means US). However, do you understand that OP is not neccessarily an Englishspeaker from USA? Black people live all around the world (even in Russia). For all we know OP can live in Africa (they have Internet there too, you know). How can you be sure that people there speak in the same terms?

Ok, at least you don't claim otherwise. That's good, comparing to what say some other people from this thread.

I think you just read OP quite inattentively. Battletech DOES allow player to play as white character, and OP says that you create your character in the game white or black. But among your teammates there is no white character.

So that's why OP considers Battletech racist towards white people the same way as, for example, an article "Can my childern be friends with white people?" where professor of social sciences (black of course) tells how white people are not trustworthy to be friends with his children.

I`m sorry but you have a very twisted world view of things that has been taught to you by retarded Leftist Marxist `professors`.

You need to get out into the real world and experience it, for your own sake.

You cannot keep living this fantasy. It`s not good for you.

Also, hijacking the thread for your nonsense is not cool.

Take off and nuke the thread from orbit.

Or you could ignore discussions you have no interest or knowledge of.

But then you'd never post at all... the dilemma...

A few things:

I am in the "real world" and have experienced, firsthand, what I have been talking about. It seems that you, on the other hand, have not. Maybe you should get to know some transgender people in person.

Secondly. I don't think I was the one who hijacked the thread.

No. You have lost your compass and are confused, very likely by others.

To try and justify your confusion you come here and try to change the views of others to your version of what men and women truly are. You have been complicated by something not complex at all.

And I don`t appreciate you using the thread for your agenda... However, speak as you will, but know you are in error.

You are the one who is struggling to adjust to changes that are beyond your control, which suggests to me that you got your compass from a box of Cracker Jack.

Cracker Jacks. Bible. Same difference.
