How in the world is there no thread for this already?

https://www.fanatical.com/en/game/battletech?aff_track=CJ

https://www.gog.com/game/battletech

And dont say there is, cause there isnt.

Unfortunately it seems to be based on clan mechs (yes, I understand it has to be. That doesnt mean I have to like it.)

Yes, there is a thread for it. It was a News post. The site search blows donuts.

No Clan mechs, as it plays in the 3025 era.

I personally don't care but we went thru like three pages of "How dare you post an affiliate link here in these forums!" just two days ago.

Before folks come out and discuss the correct temperature to tar and feather you at, you may want to consider editing your link.

Does it? Now I am more interested... Though I imagine I still cant use mt Marauder. And who in their right mind ever descirbed the Shadowhawk as "powerful"? AC/5, immediate waste of tonnage.

Never had a problem posting other sites here.

And the search still doesnt come up with that page. But i digress, I am still amazed its not at the top of the forum each second. This place gets younger all the time...

Just take a look at the HBS website, this goodie is a Kickstarter project for quite some time and I backed it, because its Jordan Weissman who does it (the guy who did the board game) and alot of BT veterans are on it. Just you will probably be a bit disappointed because of missing unseens. Played the beta for quite some time and its a fine game, just without story its more or less the same after some time. And didnt test the multiplayer as I am not into it that much.
The powerful Shadowhawk comes from the old BT Novels and well, the comp game doesnt exactly play like the board game ;)

Probably the most impressive bit of the first book of the Grey Death Cycle series was that they managed to make a Shadow Hawk feel like a badass 'Mech. But given that they spent the first half of the book piloting 20-tonners I guess it would feel like a bit of a step up.

Ahh Decision at Thunder Rift my first Battletech novel. I now own all of them but didn't get the rest of the Grey Death Legion trilogy until years after reading Thunder Rift

Yes, but never had the term "literary license" ever held so much value. Anyone who played tabletop knew full well how useless the ShadowHawk was. The real crime was making the Wolverine soft as well. You cant carry the Red Dawn namesake and be that weak. At least they gave it a little punch with the SRM6.

Speaking of Grey Death and literary license... Its been 30 years at least... But didnt the girl pilot a Locust and fight a Marauder? And survive?

If they were looking to acquire Mechwarrior, they might as well get PowerHits: Battletech. Has Crescent Hawks' Inception, Revenge, and Mechwarrior.

I have this(Powerhits: Battletech CD version) and it is a very good game collection.
Inception needs a crazy low CPU cycles allocation in DOSBox, otherwise you will automatically fail one of the tutorial missions.

Honestly, not really excited by Battletech 2018.
HBS has pared back alot of stuff promised/fully funded in their Kickstarter campaign, and the combat system in Battletech 2018 looks boring as hell.

At this point, Brigador is the Battletech-esque game for me.

I re-read it last night since the Kindle version was 99 cents. She was under cover, firing from elevation, as the Marauder and several other 'Mechs climbed a steep incline, and fired at a different 'Mech. Then they all overheated and went home after she shot the Marauder a few times and it didn't notice.

There was also a scene where she outflanked it and stayed behind it, which is much truer to the MechWarrior video games than the boardgame - in the boardgame it was essentially impossible for a scout to beat a heavy, regardless of luck, planning, or skill. In that way, I think the video games were much more realistic.

As far as license goes, the only really glaring thing to me was that heat was extremely persistent and a huge problem. I played many hours of tabletop and never had to worry about the heat from walking.

I loooved Mechwarrior 2 and Mechwarrior 4 mercenaries was okay,

I look forward to this one.
I really could care less about this since it doesn't play like the arcade "Battletech" FASA had at the battle centers. When will they cut the crap and port that...or give us an updated version of it? THAT is what I consider Battletech.
Additionally I admit I like the PC Shadowrun but I would be so HAPPY if the Genesis version got re-released, just with like even 50 more character portraits and just 20 more character models. Granted some extra stuff like more Matrix maps and cutscenes would be nice, but just those two listed in the previous sentence would see me bit on a KS of it at $5.
More and I'd easily pay more as well. "Shadowrun" for the Genesis is a great game but the limitations of the memory they had to work is painfully evident with like maybe 5 NPC models that aren't strictly enemies.
