when this movie was first announced, or, information started first coming out about it. 2 or 3 years ago or whenever.

if youd'a said, a lot of the things that made this movie good had to do with ben affleck's batman and gal gadot's wonder woman, and a lot of the things that were not good had to do with henry cavill's superman and the plot they'd set up form the previous movie, people would just thought you were way off base.

I have a brother over a decade younger who kinda gives me a reality check every once in a while. When a movie comes out that gets a really mixed reception or abysmal reviews from critics, he and his friends help me get a rough idea of how his demographic are taking it. Having someone like that around builds up a tolerance for awful pop culture and makes me feel less alienated when Transformers nets billions of dollars, not to mention helps me avoid becoming a crotchety old fart who’s terrified of dem kids and their latest fad that will kill us all according to the Daily Mail.

In this case his opinion matches many others I've seen – the fights were amazing, the story was a confusing mess. Coming from someone with absolutely no sense of pacing or story structure, that doesn't bode well for old Supes and Batsy.

Cinema still too full for me to see it yet. I like it how it's just completely run over every critic review, every showing completely full. I don't think anyone cares what critics think of Batman and Sups. We're all seeing it anyway, so shut it. :)

It looks like Civil War may be the best of the upcoming lot. Anyone else really unimpressed with X-men Apocalypse trailers?

I think this really is one of those cases where reviews don't matter at all. Anyone who cares about the characters, the movies, any of that at all, even a little, will want to see it for themselves anyway. And even those who don't care, this is still the go-to huge blockbuster of the year. Of course we'll have to wait and see how the movies does this week and this weekend. So far the box office looks stellar, but the real question is how it will continue.

I really don't expect much from any Marvel movie at this point. And the fact this suppsoed Captain AMerica movie features almost every earthbound character they established so far, and is the debut of a couple of new ones, I really would not be surprised if it turns out to be totall mess, a sort of Marvel Cinematic Universe commercial like Iron Man 2 was.

I am, but I also felt that the Days of Future Past trailers looked meh, and the movie turn out quite good, best in the franchise since X2 really, so I'm reserving my judgement. Although I have my doubts about how well the so far "realistic" (as far as possible) movie version of the X-Men will deal with ancient egyptian mutant, four horsemen, and the increasing outlandishness of it all.

That's the problem, all of these trailers look awesome. :P

I find the "they kill, they kill" criticism of the movie to be horribly childish and ridiculous. Go cry a river.

So what if they kill ? They are fictional characters.

Hollywood is free to do whatever they want with the characters. For all we know they can change the gender of the heroes to female like Thor or turn the white male superhero into black like they did with Flash in the comics.

The only legit complaint that I agree with is the Luthor portrayal. That was the worst portrayal of Luthor villian done by Jesse Eisenberg.

Oh and the Aquaman cameo. That guy looked totally constipated and uncomfortable during the few seconds he had in the movie.

Really? I thought it was rather bad honestly. Very bad script, not much sense to the plot and it didn't make any sense as a prequel to the other movies either, and other than McAvoy and Fassbender the new cast was cringeworthy.

I liked 1st Class as well though I went into it with very low expectations so maybe that had something to do with it. I loved the Wolverine cameo.

My fave in the series is still hands down #2 though.

The Wolverine scene was by far the best one... although it totally shat on any continuity between the movies.

But yes, I agree about X2. In fact, it's in my top 5 superhero ever.

First Class was my favorite as well, then they went back to Singer with Wolverine as the lead, everyone wearing either black or muted colors and, with the exception of Beast, getting rid of all the characters that weren't originally from his movies. I thought we moved past all this?

But don't you love the line in #1, "Would you prefer yellow spandex?"

The flying men during the Batman's dream sequence confirmed that Darkseid will be the future villian in future Justice League movies, which was nice.

But I can't get over the fact that DC thought it was okay for Jesse Eisenberg to play Lex Luthor. He just didn't act him well.

The movie was good, but not great like Avengers.

From what I hear he auditioned for Jimmy Olsen, and then someone from WB said "We'll pass on your Jimmy Olsen, but do you know what character you'd be terrible for?"

I think First Class didn't do so well, seemed more like a spinoff than something huge to the public. Then everyone saw it and was like, wow, I am so seeing the next one. Then Bryan singer and the old cast was brought back mistakenly because it underperformed then we get this half mess that is Days of Future Past.

It's the case of Hollywood underestimating the previous movies badly.

At least Bryan Singer ones do well, so hey, more X-men is good, can't complain much.
