Neue Deutsche Härte.
That to me is more align to goth than to metal, funnily enough.
Obviously there are band within that genre a lot better that Rammstein. But then, Rammstein is too well known, and that's a minus :P

Interesting. I think I've listened to a couple of similar Japanese bands in the past. It's sort of a death-pop-metal mishmash... most of their lyrics are something I'd normally associate with pop songs.

Iron Maiden is New Wave of British Heavy Metal (possibly the most awkwardly-named music genre in history). Rammstein would probably fall under Industrial Hard Rock.

NEW wave of british heavy metal. It was the second generation of heavy metal from the UK. The first being the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, UFO etc in the '70s. Then came Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Saxon and so on in the '80s.
