Whatever else the day achieves (I hate most pranks and this day seems to really encourage them a hundredfold), it does sometimes produce creative ideas that would not otherwise exist. GOG found out how good these can be when everyone was pining for Shelves 2.0 to become reality.

This year I did like IGN's idea for a Star Wars TV series. Although I'd imagine it would in reality turn into an intergalactic police drama with some kind of volunteer lead character who solves all the crimes with whatever special ability they have (well, it would be the force in this case, I suppose).

True. Before 9//11 OPEC told the US Congress to go to war with Afghanistan. Not 'suggested'. Not 'hinted that it's a good idea'. Not 'made the case for it'. Straight up told them what their job is and to do it. You tell your subordinates what to do. Not your superiors.

But in reality that's the case most places. This country is mostly a franchise owned by other countries. If you dig deep enough it will probably transpire that Kim Jong Un is actually defending the last bastion of the free world from the corporations. :P Well, OK maybe not. But whatever the truth is, it's pretty depressing.

Most people in my circles ignore April fools completely. There really wasn't much there to begin with, Halloween always had better prank opportunities anyways.

I don't get all the hate about April's Fools. I've seen some genuinely funny stuff over the years.

The problem is that people don't prepare for it. They come up with half-arsed stuff. Either do it properly or abstain.

I see where you're coming from. There's a very narrow range of good April Fools jokes. The majority, however, end up being disappointing, annoying, or even dangerous. The best pranks are things that people put a lot of creative effort into, even if they're obviously fake. Example from this year.

Oh, I'm willing to make an exception for April Fools'. And I'm very much against censorship and banning. I strongly believe in freedom of speech. And that humor is subjective. And that nothing should be sacred when it comes to joking.
But fuck April Fools' and its low quality "jokes". BELOW LOW QUALITY, in fact. And that dross comes in POURING.
That's how much it hurts me. See? I'm bleeding. From my eyes. Because I've been reading crap all over for a whole day. :P Even if you want to avoid it, you can't!
