Eating your farmed goods is nice. But i hope for more. Just played a dungeon in Darkstone. Your char needs to eat too. But than i missed fatigue. Even the best hero needs to sleep or?
Thats said i never have seen a realistic RPG only ones with a few aspects....

The developers of Balrum did say in their kickstarter video that you do need to sleep, and in fact if you sleep in your own bed, you get an extra buff. I also saw on their website they have a screenshot of the character list. It includes bars for "Rested", "Thirst", and "Hunger". So presumably it will have an aspect of providing some basics for your character. I wonder if you'll be able to have a bedroll on your character to perhaps hole up for the night or setup camp when you're away from home.
Great to see so many responses, glad to see both praise but also critical posts.

It does indeed remind me of Ultima and Gothic and tbh, I kinda dig the graphical style. I prefer it over, say, Avadon. I did not know they had been changing their feature list a couple of times but when I look at the things posted on Kickstarter, that list alone was good enough for me.

Thanks all for posting, pleasantly surprised.

looks a bit like ultima, that not bad i guess
I backed this game as soon as I read about it in the crowd-funding projects thread

What I would love is if it could have procedural generation or something similar for exploration/quests/etc.

But I'm happy with what is on offer :D
I must confess I really like the fact that nothing is random in this game, I have nothing against RNG/ Procedural Generation etc. but so many RPGs have it these days, I feel a game like this can really benefit from that 'handmade' feel where every tiny detail is there because the developer specifically wanted it to be.

Now they just have to make the world and its dungeons big enough for us to not get bored within the next 250+ hours :D

Looks cool; I'd definitely check it out once it's finished. I wonder how long it will be, especially with the $50,000 goal. But it would be great if someone could put out a nice game without it costing a ton of money (or then deciding they can't finish it unless they get more and more). It was nice that they said "Well, if we reach X amount, we'd like to do this also." Worth keeping an eye on for now.
Does it have level scaling? Because I was taught here that gogers love that.
As far as I know there will not be any level scaling, and truth be told, thank god for that. I find it the most idiotic thing ever. Ohh look, the hero got stronger, so did the entire world..... Yeah right, that is one sure fire way to ruin immersion for me.

Then again, there are people that love it, I just hope it will not appear in this game, just does not seem to suit it.

Funny little contest to get a bit more hype for the game. This has been approved by the creators btw so its all good.
Games from GOG and/or Steam can be won so head over to their facebook page (Balrum RPG) and see what can be won and how.

Enjoy, may the best guy/gal win!

A good game if you ask me :)

Hah, I completely agree, I was just joking about a recent 9 page thread here where several people tried to convince me it would be a good thing.
Just visit them and check out the project its good :)

I am a sucker for any new Oldschool RPG in development. Interested.

grecza: the RPG I have been waiting for is currently being developed by Warhorse studios - medieval theme with no magic and fantasy crap like dwarves and elves

What's an RPG without Elves and Dwarves? The only game that I ever got away with this was Might and Magic VI, but there a there was a lot of grumbling from the fans for omitting these races.

Great, i hate that. In a nutshell this is a cross between UO and Harvest Moon?
