Still interested in the game and the price is great (i'm assuming that has a ton of content) but i'm currently playing Wasteland 2 and while it's a good game in terms of gameplay, the uninteresting story is what makes me play it really slowly when i can gather some mood for it. What does this have to do with Balrum? Well, it looks like the same situation, it looks good in terms of gameplay but honestly i don't see it having a good story so i'll leave it on my wishlist until i'm in the mood to play something like that...

Petrell: Well there currently is a main quest breaking bug that prevents anyone from completing first chapter so...
There was :) ; the new build is live.
This looks fun! I hope it comes to GoG!

Now that the game has been released, they're really pumping out the updates quick as all get-out. What I'm not sure of is what is the best way to report bugs/problems... going to ask via Kickstarter pm, as the Balrum forums are hardly active at all.
When I first played 1.0, I was frustrated by the hunger/thirst mechanic, but they've already addressed that and several other issues. I haven't put in much time at all thus far, but I really do think this is one I'm going to love to play through.

Oddly, from what I gather, people are e-mailing bug reports to the devs. It's good to see they're really quick in updating the game, but I wish they'd do it via small patch DL as opposed to DLing the entire thing each time (for the DRM-free build).

I was actually curious about how they were addressing bugs so quickly when the Balrum forums are like a ghost town. I held off playing until they addressed the hunger/thirst mechanic, but I started a game last night. Glad to know that forum isn't the only feedback they're receiving.
I agree about patching. I guess they're doing it that way because the download is pretty small, but it would still be a lot easier to just patch in the updates each time. I actually decided to just use my Kickstarter Steam key just so I don't have to go hunting for a new version every other day or so to continue playing. It's odd to find myself preferring a Steam version of a game vs. DRM-free, but it just feels like DRM-free is a bit of a hassle in this case, at least until updates slow a bit or they find a more convenient distribution method.

Devs do frequent in Steam forums. Also some of the feedback is send thru e-mail. At least crashes seem to have been fixed now as no more reports have been posted past couple days so devs can concentrate lesser bugs, usability improvements and getting the fan translations into the game.

No comment on the matter from devs so far, though it's been asked from them several times (me included). Hopefully it's just because they have their hands full at the moment.

My wild guess is that they submitted it but have heard nothing so don't know what to say. This should definitely be here though!
Looks a hell of a lot like the eschalon games (no bad thing ).
Would be good to have it here, gog needs more rpgs.
Voted.
I'm really enjoying this game so far, but if anyone else playing has any details on skill books that can be found in the world, I'd truly appreciate it. I've recently started over, as I saw mention in the Steam and Balcony Team forums of skill books that can be easily found in the starting area. Learning Points are very hard to come by in this game, and I'd wasted some on Alchemy levels 1 and 2 and Arcane Arts 2, all of which apparently have books in the starting area and can be learned for free.

Of course, even on the second go-around, I forgot that Arcane Arts 2 was one of the skills I could get free, and I purchased that one anyway. Didn't realize for a few hours and I'm not going to back up again, but I'd *really* like to know where to find the Alchemy 1 and 2 skill books. I've looked on the available forums and found a bit of vague information, but the only somewhat detailed account of where book 1 is was either incorrect, or it's just a random spawn or something. I'd rather not blow all my LP on things I can learn for free, especially considering how limited they are.

***edit: I've gotten a bit more info on the particular skill book I was hunting down on the Steam forums, but if anyone finds any skill books or power-up books and wants to share the knowledge, it looks like only a few have been found on the tracking thread in the Steam forums thus far.

Lahnmir: Simply put, Balrum is an RPG with a feature list that could/would/should attract a lot of oldschool gamers ( it did the trick for me and I insta-backed them). The game has: [...] the need to eat, durability etc. etc.
The need to eat is a feature I actually *don't* want in my RPGs.

Durability can also be annoying if it's there just to be there, rather than as a feature clearly intended for game balance.
