I am sorry if this had been brought up

Recently In the steam store a number of people are leaving negative reviews on Baldur Gate because the developers release an update that dumb down the game mechanics and such.

Anyone tested the GoG EE version? Has it become as bad as they claim?
I am glad the D&D games were the first ones I bought when joining.

Same here. Even though i bought the EE games, BG2 with mods is still better.

It depends on yourself. Most of it can be disabled.

Please, sir! What does dumb down mean, exactly?

This, is the MAKER of BGEE, a.k.a. Beambard! The savior who FIXED the game for us, because it was full of misogyny! Stop being a bigot, this is a highly talented D & D campaign writer of the past and now titled MAKER of BGEE, as well as BEAMBARD! You may need to watch your tone around that thing! Stop asking, start believing! THIS, is exactly what happened, to our beloved series. If you accidentally purchased any beamdog crap, go immediately to support to try and refund them! Quick!

Same here too O_o'
As I said before, Beamdog seems unfit to touch classics.

They are also unfit to touch the "fine arts, too". I really want to hear that thing sing!

Here's a video showing the difference between v1.3 and v2.0.

Not sure how I feel about them. It's a pity that vanilla IE games make the CPU run to 100% and saving/loading take surprisingly long.
Time for WoC to pull their license from them. I regret buying this enhanced edition, the only thing I wanted, was a version where I do not have to install all the patches, mods manually and which is stable and uses the capabilities of modern systems. I did not want a mediocre sequel, I did not want changes in the game mechanics.

But I should have known when they attached the classic versions to the ee versions, that they themselves know, that their product has gone the wrong way and people notice it.

This has many and different meanings in their case...

I did not tried out. As soon as I heard they changed/add meaning of existing dialogue or even pull a 180 on what was meant originally in the games they became the sad case of my first requested (& also granted) refund ever on gog.

... now that I think about it they where the first video-game refund ever I asked for.
I just tried it for myself. But I cannot find a way to disable the annoying quest / journal popup that keep telling me what to do.

Oh well, if I cannot find a way around it, I guess I had to play with the original version.

Why is this steam garbage here?

Go to the steam forums and cry...
See how that turns out.

Eram... TinyE might even come by and give your post a hug on steam.

GOG you choose to install patches.
You actually own the game here... not renting

I agree with everything you said.
I have the feeling this has a lot to do with Beamdog's presence in the mobile space...
