idbeholdME: Have no idea about the game but in general, if Epic is a no-go for you, just pretend that the release got delayed by a year.

Panaias: Haha. I really don't care if I play it a year or two later. I'm annoyed by the fact that we didn't even get the first one here because Galaxy features were required by GOG (at least that's what I concluded from Adelman's last posts here in the forums).

GOG users are not even on the map for games like this. And now the developer also asks Steam users to be understanding and patient because Epic users will get it exclusively for a bit. It almost feels like a dark comedy :)
I may obviously be wrong. But from what I've read so far concerning the dev it seems he's a bit of a "complex" guy. I suspect the "Galaxy features" thing was just a lame excuse.

I thought this whole thing had been resolved, with both parties admitting to not having handled the situation in a very professional way?

Even sounded like as if Adelman was intent on re-submitting the first Axiom Verge for a GOG release again.

Might have a better chance by contacting Happ directly without going through Adelman at this point. Not sure how though. Most of the official means of communication (with the exception of Twitter, which seems(?) to be maintained by Happ and not Adelman) look like they're not necessarily handled by Happ actually.

Yeah, but still the fact the whole thing happened in the first place annoys me.

Unfortunately, even if you even manage to contact Tom Happ directly, he will go through Dan Adelman, as he handles the business side of Axiom Verge.

How can we reach Dan Adelman directly here in the forums? I guess he may not be a frequent visitor, but we could try sending him a ping.

edit: I know we can try the "official" way of emails, but I think it would be more interesting if we could invite him somehow in a thread and discuss about a possible release here.

Sorry, but I very much get his reasoning. Game development, especially indie game development, is a ruinous industry with people earning scrap on average, unless they literally got the most outstanding game of the year going and a good bit of hype.

From what he describes, epic just offers much better conditions. I'm not interested in the game and I treat epic exclusives as non-existent, since I never bought anything on this platform, but as a dev who has to pay bills, I would probably take that deal too.

As I said earlier, I personally do not complain about his life or business choices (Epic exclusivity, etc). He is human, he has a family and they have to live. He knows better how to handle that.

What I don't understand is why they don't release the first game here, DRM-free, after selling it for years on Steam and even giving it for free on Epic. It has even been released on every console that existed in the past 5 years or so.

Iirc, it was a missed opportunity to just release Axiom Verge without Galaxy integration, despite GoG initially asking for it.

So it's either that Adelman has not re-submitted said non-Galaxy build of Axiom Verge yet or Happ (which I assume has the last word on where Axiom Verge gets a release) just doesn't want it on GoG, for whatever reason.
