Maybe the sequel will be too. I quickly tried the first game months ago, seemed like a generic platformer with poor "retro-pixel-graphics", not really my cup of tea...
It was made during a complete drought of Metroidvanias. Especially those on the side of 'troid.

It was free and after installation, it appears to be DRM-Free too also. I am certain i run it without Epic.

I will buy it when it comes on GOG, but until then I couldn't even be bothered to play the free version I got from EPIC.

I would say that 99% of the times GOG uses that line, it's just a kind way of saying "your game is too shit to put on our platform". Personally, after checking out Agony Unrated on STEAM, I would say that raises it to 99.1%.

Assuming this POV (point of view) is objective (which is actually subjective, as is mine). Whatever happened to the unofficial rule that "wishlist votes matters"? And marketing-wise, isn't it dumb to turn down something that a noticable statistics-pie-slice of customers are genuinely interested in and would most probably or certainly buy?

Disappointingly I ended up buying AV on the Switch and the controls are kind of screwed up. They have B as confirm and A as cancel in the menus. I reported this problem to them (and it took months to actually get a reply) and their response was along the lines of "It's too hard/not worth fixing".
I, too, was tired of waiting for it on GOG so I got it on the PS4. The controls over there were fine, although I can understand your frustration since Nintendo kind of always had these things in reverse (the A B buttons in menus, if I am not wrong even since the NES).

Anyway, I enjoyed the game very much and it is definitely a Metroid clone (as in extraordinary amount of similarities).

Ironically, I played Super Metroid after Axiom Verge. Also, Super Metroid allows you to rebind all keys (no intention to pour salt in the wound SirPrimalform! - edit: sorry, please ignore this, I forgot you were talking only about menus).

edit: Forgot to mention, Tom Happ now focuses only on Switch for the main AV2 release platform with other platforms to be announced later. So, even if there is a tiny extremely ultra small possibility for it to ever appear on GOG, it will be a considerable delay.

Unfortunately we don't have the context, and I'm certain it sucks for the people that were actually looking forward to getting the game.

And i'm certain it sucks for GOG's income, as well. But i guess they prefer paying salaries to curation strawmen, instead of doing that to secure more titles; that many people here would gladly buy too. And get a nice immaterial bonus that can go a long way, on top of that (fulfilling wishes makes people happy/grateful, no?)

I've seen gameplay of the first game, it looks like something I'd enjoy but unless a game is on PC, I can't play it. So yeah, I'm definitely gonna vote for both on the wishlist.

Well actually, that's kind of always been the right way around. In Japan the Playstation matches Nintendo (O is confirm and X is cancel) but for some reason Sony swapped it around in the West and Microsoft copied them and here we are. AV came out on the Playstation before any Nintendo versions and since Tom Happ is American he went with the western Sony convention. I assume therefore that Japanese players of AV on PS are just as shafted as Nintendo players are.

Axiom Verge also lets you rebind keys, but it ties confirm and cancel to the in game actions which means that putting confirm on A and cancel on B results in an unusable layout for actions like jump and shoot. This is kind of a rookie mistake...
