You were close enough though. A little bit of bad dice luck, really. Your step 10 Berserker Freak-Out dealt you 6 damage, and on step 11 the die result was only a 1, the worst heal you could get. Thanks to you as well for joining in :)

The Luck of the Dice was with me it seems. and a bit of DnD strategy helped :D

Well deserved :) Having pen & paper roleplaying experience sure offered some advantage getting into the right mindset with this. That last charged Spear Throw, let's just consider it a critical (which it basically is, 2d6 that gave a perfect result of 12). Nicely done.

You obviously chose a good blend of getting out of the way and healing up at the right moment :) In that cooperative effort, yours was absolutely a valuable contribution damage-wise too.

Honestly, I considered trying to solve it, but it didn't make any sense to me. Now that I see the answers, I know that I never would've gotten it. I'd never heard of any of those songs/poems you mentioned, and I had no idea how the steps would fit in for 8/9 (how was I supposed to know that there'd be fire?). 5 is the only one I understood, but I thought it meant that the monster's attack would automatically fail somehow (rolled a 1?) and give me a rest at which point I could pray. It's not like anybody would notice anyways since it was already on the example sheet, so I didn't bother saying anything.

I figured that Google would've offered a rather quick lead to get one going on the right track, but like I already said to adaliabooks above, when you know the solution it naturally looks way easier than if you're trying to solve it :) Cheers for your thoughts.

It's just a personal preference that, whenever I'm attempting to solve a puzzle, I never revert to Google unless it's a last, desperate resort. I feel like it's "cheating" in a sense. Good puzzle you had there, though.
