The licenses are all over the place. Anything that is a film license, even more so when it's a double-dealing like this, is pretty hard to nail down. Hechl, even EA can't seel the Harry Potter games anymore.

Oh boy, there are precious few games that I would describe as insta-buy, but avp2 is definitely one of them!
Perhaps it's time to watch Aliens again...

It's in the same place as Battle for Middle Earth 1 and 2 and many many other games. Licensing Hell.

And escaping from it is notoriously hard because the interested parties usually don't deem the effort of extracting a game from down there as worth it. It would usually mean spending a lot of $$$ on reacquiring the licenses which is usually the stopping point for everyone.

With that said, I see nothing wrong in getting these games using "alternate" means.

... me thinks you better check your wizard history. It was broken into successfully at-least twice.
