Ixamyakxim: I have mixed feelings. I was always somewhat interested in the game, even after I learned there wasn't a single player campaign mode. When they announced the "change" I was even slightly optimistic they'd perhaps consider releasing some sort of campaign DLC (with maybe a story and some card rewards for advancing through different maps / boards). You know, as a way to placate DRM free supporters of the game as they took the "main" version of it in a paid microtransaction / always online sort of direction.
This is interesting. I didn't pay attention to any news pieces related to the game, and don't know a lot beyond some basic details. I did had the game in my wishlist as it left an initial good enough impression. So, now I know why it was really removed. They were thinking of turning it into a constant server-side, micro-transaction, pay-as-you-go along kind of model. It does not take a genius to see how badly that would clash with a DRM-Free model. I love and purposely shop at GOG, as I'm assured of getting my single-player games without controllative DRM/DRM-models. Armello certainly isn't cutting it here.
I also don't why they are even attempting to do this. I remembered Steamspy writing some article, saying that if you think you can just create any "free-to-play"/micro-transaction/subscription type model, and expect it to be a fantastic cash-grab like some of the other big-wigs, think again. You know, truth to be told, I've kind of even forgotten the existence of this game.
