Becoming a slightly different beast.

Armello, the digital tabletop/role-playing/strategy game, has now been updated and renamed to Armello - DRM Free Edition. It includes the latest fixes and updates, plus all these lovely animals who will eagerly stab each other with pointy things in order to become rulers of the land. Oh, and it's 25% off for six days!

This edition is a complete strategic experience and will keep receiving updates that are unrelated to DLCs or online features.

Here's what League of Geeks have to say about it (full version here):

"We want to ensure that whatever platforms Armello is on, we're providing the best experience that we possibly can. As Armello moves more and more into online services (like Steam inventory and more multiplayer features) and as we begin to roll out our plans for DLC, we've been working closely with GOG on an edition of Armello specific to GOG. [..]
We've had fantastic meetings with GOG about the future of Armello on the platform and although there's no way for us to provide DLC for DRM-Free users or to attempt to retain parity with the Steam version of Armello, Armello DRM-Free Edition will see features that best suit a DRM Free experience. [...]."

Get ready to join this new era of colorful animosity with Armello DRM-Free Edition, exclusively on GOG.com.
The 25% discount will last until September 5, 9:59 PM UTC.

Sad they have plans to lock away some of the features.

And "there's no way for us to provide DLC for DRM-Free users or to attempt to retain parity with the Steam version of Armello" is just bollocks.

At least the game is here I guess, but yeah, in a limited capacity it seems. There's only one thing to do. Up next, GOG Inventory and more multiplayer support :)

My BS meter is at full capacity today... any interest one would have in this game has just been killed right here. This is going to set a bad precedent where we get even more gimped versions. Game shouldn't even been sold here.

Couldn't agree more !!! I'll add my bollocks to that.

Oh, and by the way GOG - the link you provide in the "full version here" takes you to a login page for their forum. Why should I have to create a forum account on their site to see the full text???

The game has already been here ever since September 2015. I fail to see what's so worthy of this "release", except to tell us that the game will be a gimped version of the one on Steam.

I always thought it was already here or am I missing something?

No Usurpers Hero Pack, then.

It's not like GOG doesn't offer a MP system via Galaxy that is comparable to Steamworks. What the hell is this game using the inventory for? I can't think of any games I own on Steam that use the inventory in any meaningful way outside of something like CSGO.
So no DLC for us?
I own the game here since 2015...
Another mistake, tired to get less for games than Steam /:
At least Linux version run fine ^^

So this effectively translates in to Armello devs abandoning gog by dropping any support for upcoming dlc on gog. And yeah was surprised to see this as a new release too. Haven't bought it yet but this definitely drops any interest I had.

So... can't be bothered to properly implement features DRM free so instead they make a new version which doesn't include those features and pretend it's a good thing.

Fabulous.

I did think this game looked interesting (and I think it was on my wishlist) but I've lost any inclination to buy it.
I have to admit I feel kinda cheated especially I paid full price for the game but the Steam version can purchase the cool DLCs. Can we at least get a free steam code for the game should we ever decide to purchase the DLC? I really do wanna purchase the DLC but I don't want to repurchase a game I already owned.

Or can we get a refund so we can repurchase the full game over at steam?

I agree. We don't want to buy crippled versions! Games which don't have all features shouldn't be sold here.

And on a side-note this DLC has been released on Steam today... not that it matters anyway...
