Hello!

Riddler escaped from Arkham (yeah we all know what that place is like) and once again needs thugs to spread Riddler trophies all over the city. I suggested he just hire some goons but he insisted on doing this stupid giveaway.

Thanks to Batman, the time has come to punish *all* God's children! 1st, 2nd, 3rd *and* 4th-born! Forward march! The liberation of Gotham has begun! (this is a quote from Batman Returns. I haven't turned into a homicidal maniac).

Rules:

The giveaway has it's own rules on top of the regular forum ones. You may be king, Kunat. But in the realm of riddles I am emperor. Here they are:

I) Answers don't need to be correct, but they do need to connect to the riddle in some way. Just give it your best shot.

II) Joke answers are fine as long as they follow the rule above (I won't tell Nigma).

III) Account must be at least one year old.

IV) Winner is picked at random

V) If I suspect you are a bot (even if you meet the above requirements), your name will be removed from the pool and I will re-roll.

VI) Don't message me for the answers.

VII) Giveaway ends Thursday, December 5th, 2024 @ 7pm (GMT-4). I should be here to close the giveaway myself, but in case I'm not this is the cut off time

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) I stand like corn, and have two eyes to see. If I do everything properly, you won't spot me.

2) It's named after children, but don't be fooled. This is a crime that can happen to you.

3) It begins with a host and ends with grief. What do you call a guest who's dying to leave?

4) This amount can apply to any peasant. But a sum that's large enough is fit for a king.

5) I'm loud and fast so don't run and shout. I have your name and will take you out.

6) What's white and red and dead all over?

7) Finding our name is a hunter's game. Lost, then found, we are called the same.

8) I start empty, but I'm always filled with sorrow. I'll be greeted with tears and flowers tomorrow.

I'm joining this giveaway. Not for the game itself per se, but because I freaking love the idea.

1. Clippy.
2. Hmm, tricky one. Child neglect?
3. Ten Little Indians!! (Note to self: read more Agatha)
4. Kilograms
5. FBI OPEN UP
6. Ambulances
7. Treasure. Maybe.
8. Glass bottles!

Okay but let's be honest, I just like my answer to #1 more.

1. radar speed trap
2. kidnapping
3. clue murder victim
4. debt
5. police car
6. undead people's picnic blanket
7. god/savior (? uh, this one's difficult)
8. urn

^^ why are all my answers so grave/morbid/violent? ô.O
Ah, not my fault; I blame the questions.
1) Scarecrow trying his best at being stealthy

2) Kidnapping (interesting fact: this crime is also named after naps)

3) Anyone attending one of Cobblepot's gala parties, those things are a bore

4) A ransom

5) The Batmobile

6) Solomon Grundy that one time he dressed like Santa Claus. The white beard was a nice touch, but he ended up looking more like Krampus than Santa

7) The Robins. Batman's villains seem to hunt them down, they are all named the same and are usually lost in one way or another until Bats adopts them

8) A grave

This is an awesome idea for a giveaway!

1) A scarecrow
A scarecrow stands in a field like corn, has two eyes (often drawn or represented), and is meant to scare away crows so they "won't spot" the crops.

2) Identity theft
Named after children ("identity"), this crime can affect anyone, where someone steals personal information.

3) A ghost
A ghost begins as a "host" (a living person) and ends with "grief" (their death). A ghost could be seen as a "guest" who lingers where they no longer belong.

4) A fortune
A fortune can be small and modest for a peasant but significant and grand for a king.

5) A bullet
A bullet is loud, fast, and "will take you out." The phrase "has your name" is often used metaphorically to describe a target.

6) A candy cane
It's white and red (striped) and "dead all over" since it's inanimate.

7) Deer
Deer are the targets of hunters, and the word "dear" sounds the same as "deer," linking the idea of being lost, then found.

8) A grave
A grave starts empty but is filled with sorrow after a burial, often visited with tears and flowers.

Oh your answer was purrfect :)

I'm in!

1) I stand like corn, and have two eyes to see. If I do everything properly, you won't spot me.

A ghost dipped in caramel from ghost busters.

2) It's named after children, but don't be fooled. This is a crime that can happen to you.

Kidnapping

3) It begins with a host and ends with grief. What do you call a guest who's dying to leave?

Any guest at Joker's standup comedy. He's serving kool-aid called Laughing Aid

4) This amount can apply to any peasant. But a sum that's large enough is fit for a king.

1 peasant becomes king after finding it was 1 bitcoin

5) I'm loud and fast so don't run and shout. I have your name and will take you out.

Batman: Then why do you want to kill me? Joker: Kill you? I don't wanna kill you. What would I do without you? Go back to ripping off mob dealers?
uhh Can't be Batman...

6) What's white and red and dead all over?

Go watch Joker: Folie à Deux

7) Finding our name is a hunter's game. Lost, then found, we are called the same.

The next actor playing Batman will still be called Batman.
Can someone connect me to Lewis Wilson, the first Batman?
To shreds you say? Hmm... lost indeed :(

8) I start empty, but I'm always filled with sorrow. I'll be greeted with tears and flowers tomorrow.

A hole 8 feet deep.

Hello again! Contest is closed. Posts after this one won't be counted. I just need a moment to sort some things out...

And the winner is...KillingMoon! Congratulations! You won!

And now for the answers:

1) I stand like corn, and have two eyes to see. If I do everything properly, you won't spot me.

Stalker. Looks like this one was too cryptic, so I'll try to explain. The stem of a piece of corn is called the stalk, and so standing like corn would be "stalking".

2) It's named after children, but don't be fooled. This is a crime that can happen to you.

Kidnapping

3) It begins with a host and ends with grief. What do you call a guest who's dying to leave?

Hostage

4) This amount can apply to any peasant. But a sum that's large enough is fit for a king.

Ransom

5) I'm loud and fast so don't run and shout. I have your name and will take you out.

Bullet

6) What's white and red and dead all over?

Corpse in the snow

7) Finding our name is a hunter's game. Lost, then found, we are called the same.

John/Jane Doe. Another cryptic riddle, I'll explain the best I can. Doe is a term used for female deer, which is a common prey for hunters. Doe is also a widely used term applied to unidentified decedents.

8) I start empty, but I'm always filled with sorrow. I'll be greeted with tears and flowers tomorrow.

Congratulations to the winner! HF, KillingMoon!
Your "tapeworm" answer was golden! :-D

Other great answers that made me laugh:
Pooka's Clippy! How many people do even still know that thing?
Breja's Polish national football team. Lewandowski FTW!

A big thanks to J Lo for this giveaway and chance to win!
The answers to your questions were a lot more literal / word-based that I had expected (like "host" + "age").
