FlatOut 2 has surprisingly good physics for an otherwise (unfortunately) arcadey game.
And while FlatOut 2 is generally regarded to as being better than the previous game, I'd recommend you try the first flatout too. IIRC it asks you whether to play on arcade or "professional" physics or something like that. Pick pro. It might feel a bit floaty, you'll definitely have to work to stay on track. There'll be less rubble and junk on the way than in FlatOut 2, which is a positive for me. Also some of the tracks are just nice. But prepare to be frustrated with AI drivers who treat it like destruction derby and will happily bump into you when you slow down to take a corner carefully.. they'll often bump into you and send you spinning off road. It's an issue in both games but especially frustrating in the first one. Still, I'd say it's worth playing both.
I tried Screamer, it crashed a lot and the physics are shit.
Carmageddon is shit.
GRID looks interesting, but I haven't played it. Not sure whether my computer can run it...

The thing about this incredibly hard mission is that once you know about the electro-bastard ray power up sitting across the water stream near a ramp, not far away from the tower full of people you need to murder, it becomes the most incredibly stupidly easy mission in the game. :(
Historically, the only game mode worth playing in Carma games is the classic carma races.

Carma 2 and TDR 2k are full of awful mission levels and Reincarnation (and certainly the upcoming Max Damage as well) is full of alternative race modes as well, none even remotely as fun as classic carma.

OH! I thought you were talking about a mod or something that gave you some of the tracks in #1 to play in #2.

GRID is really good and not as hardware demanding as it would seem. My PC usually suffers with high quality visuals, but GRID runs very nice maxed out. Be warned, controls can be hard to master at first.

VanCrusty: Thanks. Does the GOG version include LAN multiplayer? I checked the game's forum here on GOG and it sounds like it does have LAN multiplayer.

I wish it would released here on GOG the Geoff Crammond's racing games, especially the Grand Prix series :)

he asked about good not trash you can barely control
grid is a bit ...difficult to say the least
expect a lot of swearing and restarting
also if you have two drives make sure you install grid on the second drive
grid employs a 5 gig temp file it uses for replays and flashbacks when you crash
and it wil write to this file at all times
unless you have a monster system or an ssd this will slow your game down to a ridiculous degree
if you dont have a second drive installing grid on a usb stick will work just fine
i tried it and had no problems in playing the game whatsoever
on the same computer that crawled to a halt because of the temp file
