6. Common sense. Don't download / run programs from "questionable" sites / .exe's from torrents, don't give personal / login data over the phone to someone calling and pretending to be from your bank, etc.
Agreed with all of your posts but this bit. I have downloaded stuff from sites my browser disliked before and also ran exes from(legal) torrents and haven't had a problem. To be safe I simply scan them in a scanner or two beforehand and haven't had any issues so far.

ZyloxDragon: Another thing you can do is run linux in a virtual machine and do all your browsing from there. Windows vulnerabilities will still be present on your host system, but most computers hit by malware are from compromised websites thru the browser.

hedwards: Yes, and many VM packages will allow you to start fresh each time you restart. Just be sure that any save game directories and whathaveyou are being saved somewhere that writes to disk and malware check it constantly.

There's also products that will prevent software from writing outside of specific folders that can greatly reduce the risk of becoming infected.

hedwards: You mean other than sending all your private infos to MS, having mandatory updates and generally being a pain in the arse? The user interface looks a lot like 7, but the OS is terrible.
You can turn off all that spyburger stuff in setup

Been thinking about it (W10) and this video is good but it is 4 years old.Has he made an updated version? MS is a real sneak:)

You can turn some of it off, but not all. And the fact that you have to manually do it is shameful.

I'm on Windows 10 and in the Windows Insider Program. I get the updates before they go live for everyone else.

so your microsofts bitch then, MS dress up there insider program to let users see stuff early when all you really are is an unpaid QA tester and i hope its not your main PC, cos like i said in prevoius posts most new versions of windows 10 have bugs wat do MS do with your feedback on the insider program i bet you its not for fixing problem they will just use your data and sell it to advertisers so they can make money off you.

have a look at shutup 10 addon and ha ve a loo k how much that stuff blocks, i used to use spybot anti beacon until they wanted money for something which is a basic free right known as privacy.

It's as a lot of people have already said: NoScript, uBlock Origin, Ghostery, a good firewall, an AV, MBAM and common sense are pretty much always enough to keep you safe, unless you are targeted and then no protection would work anyway. Also, always use whitelists instead of blacklists for firewalls as well as NoScript and Ghostery.

All that stuff is accessible and can be disabled normally.

You could always hack the gibson or code a gui in visual basic.....or even DUAL HACK with TWO PEOPLE on the Same KEYBOARD. ;)

Some dislike Windows/Microsoft(and often for good reason), but if some like their products I see no harm in it/in doing so as long as one get's their money's worth and knows how to use such to the best of their ability/to block any bad aspects of said products/etc.
