foxworks: I happened upon this article. Apparently, Apple doesn't consider one's library and their store front two separate items. Once it is removed from the store it is taken from your available purchased content (library).

"I see that you are unable to locate some of your purchased movies. After reviewing this case, I have noticed that the content provider has removed these movies from the Canadian Store. Hence, these movies are not available in the Canadian iTunes Store at this time. However, Apple is constantly working with content providers to expand the iTunes Store catalog and to make more items available in more countries."

foxworks: Sounds awfully familiar with what happened on GOG when extra content or "goodies" were removed from customer accounts. I'm pleased that has since been corrected.

While digital goods are convenient, it cannot always be trusted to be made available. Hearing this stuff really saddens me since physical goods are quickly becoming a thing of the past. In the end, what will you be left with?

EDIT: Can't type today
I haven't been able to play any of my EA games on Origin for about a year now because they blocked my VPN and there is no true offline mode. They essentially said to fuck off when I contacted support.

So yeah, not a strong argument for the DRM crowd. At least with GoG I can download my entire library and store it on an external HD or something.

Ok, DRM is never ideal... but why not turn off your VPN when playing those games?

I can't turn it off because it's not mine. It's a public VPN like a university VPN, which is where I do 90% or more of my work and gaming on my computer.

I know it's my problem and I'm sure there's a number of ways around it, but most likely none that won't cost me a lot of money (like having a cellular plan on my laptop with enough bandwidth to run and/or run multiplayer games). My point being that I paid a few hundred dollars for a heap of games I can never play again unless my life situation changes and I have access to my own internet. It's basically theft and they should refund me at least a portion of this since they essentially took the games from me.

DRM is evil and it's theft.
