I haven't seen the new stuff, but I own the entire original series (for non-fan definitions where all I have are the tv episodes) on DVD. Some of it has not aged so well, but it's in the silly-fun-stuff queue along with some truly, deliciously bad television. The storytelling holds up to time passably well. ^_^

Nah normally I'd see it for what it is, but I'm very tired and worn out - today was busy with people calling all day long wanting a newspaper (Our local basketball team won the championship here in the States) and I did a lot of side projects because the photo lab itself was pretty slow.

It's on me.

The new season (which was sadly very bad) made me buy and rewatch the original series, and it was a great decision. I think it holds up very well actually. I honestly think it's good TV, very good even. Honestly it's I think way better than most people tend to think now. Yes, it deals with stuff that is "silly" on paper, but it uses that stuff for some great storytelling (at least so far, I'm just starting season 5).

I'm actually surprised to discover that this timea round I'm enjoying the "comedy" episodes much less then I remember from before. They feel almost wrong, like the show is shortchanging itself. It's easy to mock the aliens and the paranormal. It's much more impressive to be serious about it, and tell a truly scary, or even emotionally gut-wrenching story. And the show is mostly much more serious and darker than I remembered, especially early on.
