mystikmind2000: A few years later one of my friends started talking about his dads 'Amiga' ..... i said "what is an Amiga?" He said its like a continuation of the commodore 64.... of course everyone knows what a commodore 64 was, even if you never owned one, so i was very surprised i never heard of an Amiga?? (But as i found out years later, that was their business plan, develop a great product, not market it properly, then go out of business).
karnak1: The Amiga computer had several versions (A500, A600 and A1200). Again, despite its popularity, the fact that it lacked an hard-drive (the strong point of IBM-PCs), that PCs had a VGA palette, and that sound cards began to appear, ultimately led to its downfall. My historical recollections may be a bit blurred, so sorry for any blunders.
I think a few more versions than that? The one i used i think was an Amiga 2000. It did come with a HDD port if you wanted a HDD... so i got a massive 20MB Hdd, and that was WAY more space than i could possibly dream of using - it had capacity of 8MB of Ram too! (OMG how things have changed).
The Amiga 2000 came with a fuckup design left mouse port, so when that inevitably broke, and i was unable to fix it, the computer went in the bin. Interestingly, the right mouse port was properly designed, just to show you they knew how to do it right but chose not too.
Later i owned an Amiga 1200 that came with a 40mb HDD.... that is the computer i used to play Centurion on.
Edit - The funny thing about the Amiga 1200, it is 'almost' a laptop computer, they sure missed that boat!! lol
