I saw this game being free next sale on EPIC and I'm thrilled to be reminded of it.
It was one of my favourite games. The story was thrilling, and meaningful.

I think much of it resembles what we saw in Detroit: Become Human.

Are we all just data? What happens when we can put our brains into machines like the movies?

Won't that be brilliant... or not if you played SOMA

I have played the starting bits, and I like what I have seen so far.

Love all the interact-able stuff in various areas and such, and the areas themselves are often very nice to go through/look at.

It's a great game. Frictional are at their best with the "smarter" end of the spectrum for horror games that slowly build up tension / uncertainty / questioning your own existence rather than rely on cheap jump scares every 15 seconds. Excellent voice acting too. They are currently working on "two new games", hopefully more of the same.

Loved it! It's light on the puzzles, light on the stealth, but heavy on atmosphere. Entertaining 10 hours!

Honestly, I'd very much like something closer to SOMA, than Amnesia or Penumbra. I handle jump scares/horror much better, if it takes place in a science fiction environment, than anything else.

Then ending was so fucked up.

i love soma. played it when it launched and i still think about that crazy awesome ending. it was. and how cold and dark the abyss felt leading up to it... man, what a badass game.

I played it to. Beside the stealthy part to avoid getting caught, I enjoyed this game a lot. It was disturbing and sad and it definitely lingered in my mind for a long time after I finished it.

It's one of the game that insanely boring to watch, at one point i almost thought it was over-hyped. But when you actually get to played it first-hand, my God the game, the writings, the voice-acting, the pace are incredible. It's solid 10 for me no matter if you love horror or not

I think it's OK but also way overrated. Honestly the game didn't make me feel much.

The one thing that's memorable about it is fisting sphincters. Not sure if that's a good thing.

I really wish they'd make something that feels more rooted in reality. Like the first part of SOMA while you're at your apartment, and then at the doctor's office. The way things go crazy and scifi after that just makes it difficult for me to connect with the story and feel immersed in its world.

Same issue with Amnesia, it just drops you in a fantasy castle.

Penumbra remains my favorite Frictional game. The journey to the mines and the fact that it's "roughly present day" puts the experience somewhat closer to the realm of plausibility -- and reality -- than the all out scifi or fantasy of soma or amnesia.

Also based on reviews and rumors I expected SOMA to provide much more a deep dive into the metaphysical, but in the end it's just a rather shallow thought experiment presented without any deep insight. Dunno if it's the first game to do that but I'm sure books and movies and creative people have thought these things through many times over so going in expecting a fresh & insightful take is going to prove disappointing.

It was very fun and all. Until i reached the small square labyrinth, with the two patrolling Big-Daddy diving suits and the disco-flashlight for head...

Really nice. Play it.

It's pretty much a walking simulator with a good setting. The main character is a wuss.
The normal windows screenshot function is blocked so you will need to use the game one.
There's a debug command you can put in it's config to open up other options.
