Crimson_T: I did have a long moment of buyers remorse for missing out on PCIe 4.0. Realistically though, if it becomes a must have for the next generation of GPU's, that'll be a good excuse to upgrade earlier and jump into the 7nm (or smaller!) processors.
highly unlikely, GPU are yet to saturate PCIe3.0.

Not a bad processor and can be found at great discount. I hope you remembered to buy a 220W+ capable cooler as it does not come with any cooler.

My point about future GPUs was not the next generation but say three or so into the future but there was already the sad Radeon RX 5500 XT 4GB that made a bit of noise with how it could be around 30% slower on PCIe 3.0 if you used too high settings. A stupid card anyway and I am sad for those who bought it if they play modern 3D games.

Went with the Noctua NH-D15S. If I need to, I'll add the extra fan for the cooler. I don't expect to need that however, as I'll be running this build with MCE off. So the CPU shouldn't draw too much power with extended use over it's recommend Intel TDP.

Pairing it with a Corsair 850W Plat power supply should keep me ready for the majority of GPU upgrades in the future.

Interesting that there was that big of change with the use of the Raedon RX 5500 XT 4GB with PCIe 4.0! I've switched back and forth between AMD and Nvidia over the years (Even still have my 3DFX Voodoo 5 5500), but I've had less issues with my 2 Nvidia cards overall.

Very capable :-) and big :-S and not cheap :-( but still much less than a decent watercooling solution. I hope it fits in your case.

Shouldn't have any issue! Cooler Master HAF XB EVO. Ordering THAT is what got me looking in the first place. My 2060 Super wasn't fitting properly (height-wise) in my older nMedia HTPC case.

My cat recently decided that jumping on the case was a good idea (Christmas tree was too close), repeated times doing that was creating a chance for the computer to turn off :(. The last couple times it started power cycling until I re seated the GPU power cables. So I thought I should deal with that before my luck ran out and something worse happened....

My friend used to solve that cat + power button problem by placing a small pot upside down over the button.

Meow!

If you end up with stuff that should be in VRAM dumped to system memory (because you're out of space in the VRAM), then yes, it can somewhat matter, I guess, but I still expect latency to be more of an issue than bandwidth.

If I know cats, the cat's solution to your solution would be "Hulkcat smash! Meow!" :P.
