I prefer the Finnish way of using "it." Whether you know pronouns or not. (Doesn't matter that our pronouns are gender neutral, we still refer to people using "it')

I'm already thinking how my chances are of selling my 10600k + b460 H and 2060 super and grab the next iterations which leave you with virtually no chance if releases become yearly and with such improvements and discounts 2d hand tech becomes only worthwhile if your desperate for something high tiered

these current innovations are better watched from the sideline, maybe even with the help of a post it nitted on a place easily visible containing the words " your pc is good enough ( if you have one from the last couple of years )

sure current day games are quite consuming on your device, and especially if you went for 2k or 4k screens but even then most games will work fine if you tinker a bit with the settings without loosing to much graphics fidelity

The amd 5000 cpu line remains one hell of a release on AMD's side but taken together with the rest of the devices that detail the current horizon for the sane customer it seems to be nothing more then showbiss if you understand what i mean

And that's really what made me decide to just stick with my 3600 instead of buying another motherboard or going through the process of flashing the bios, which I know is easy, but is still a pain.

AMD is going to have the 6000 series next year, and the 7000 series immediately afterward. There's very little point in upgrading to a 5000 series for me, since I already have a decent 3000 series chip.

I'm better off waiting for them to slow down with their release output again, though I hear the 5600x is roughly 10-15% faster overall than a 3600.

I know I noticed a difference going from a 2600 to a 3600, but I don't know if I'll see that going to a 5600X, as tempting as it is.

I love AMD and I'm grateful they're finally competing with Intel, it's just not enough for me after a long and laborious thought process to want to upgrade to a 5000 series right now. I might change my mind in the spring, who knows?

I do know my 5700 XT is finally at the point where it's performing like it should, after owning it for almost a year.

Kind of the same situation I'm in, I have a 2600X which is a good all-rounder, the weak link of my rig is the GPU-monitor couple: I'm still on 1080p with an ancient Radeon, I was going to buy a 4K High refresh rate display but canceled my preorder and decided to stay on the fence with the hope to get a new revision of the same model with better specs.
In the end really made little sense buying a new graphic card now and even less looking at the 4K benchmarks of the 6000 and 3000 series, better wait for the next generation.

You're absolutely right. I know the 6000 series of GPU is being heralded as good value for the money, but we're not saving that much buying AMD this gen. The performance per dollar ratio isn't as good as it has been in the past. You'd almost be better off getting a 5700 XT for $250 used if possible, they're really good at 1080p and decent at 1440p.

Unless of course you want to move up to 4k. It can handle it on certain games, but some games my 5700 XT just chugs.

It's also worth noting as I'm sure you're aware, a particular generation of AMD gpu doesn't reach its apex until a following generation has come out, and AMD finally starts coding drivers correctly for the previous gen, based on personal experience over the years with various AMD cards.

One other thing: While AMD CPUs are now competitive with Intel CPUs on the mid-high tier range, I don't think they have any that can compete with Intel's Atom or Celeron processors, which are cheap and take very little power (and are usually found embedded in laptops (especially Chromebooks or other laptops of similar specs), mini computers (I remember getting a ~$100 computer with an Intel Atom CPU), and I believe it even appeared on some phones.

Has AMD come out, or is AMD planning on coming out, with a CPU that can compete in this sector, or are Intel and ARM going to be the only reasonable choices here for the foreseeable future?
