It starts with a sale...

Being a man of lists, I have a color-coded wishlist spreadsheet (for GOG, Steam, Epic, etc). And every sale, I go through that wishlist... with most attention to the "green" category (my most wanted)... and see what corresponds to the sale items.

But as I start searching GOG's sale items...

... I come across games I've either never considered playing before or simply had never known about (ie Paper Sorcerer). Suddenly I have new games for the spreadsheet! And with those additions I have to reorganize my wishlist / spreadsheet order.

By the end of the day, I've taken my planned purchase (ie Mafia Trilogy) and replaced it with games I'd never previously planned on purchasing (ie Avernum Saga). And tomorrow this all could change again!

I do tell myself to purchase dlc for games I already own -- finish those collections! (or buy the Yakuza trilogy... again!) -- but often times I want a new experience instead of more of the old (even if I love the base game / old experience). Same for purchasing games I already own on console; I always intend to buy them on GOG, but... rarely do.

I create lists to make choosing game purchases easier, but... it rarely does much to help. Oh, the best laid plans of mice and men! ha.

Maybe I'll just go back to some library games that I have yet to play? Probably the best idea... but I know tomorrow I'll search the sale pages and wishlists again! ACK! ;)

Yeah, I also go through that... "is X worth the price?"

I spend much too much time thinking on games.

I can already confidently say that no, I don't have days like this... :D

I keep wishlists to get notified of discounts/freebies. Everything else is just a matter of "Do I feel like buying this today?".

I spent nearly two years using spreadsheet to organize what I have/wanted to get trying to not overlap between laptop/console... and the worst part was when the same game was available on both platforms... Eventually just gave up and sold my Windows laptop and only play indie games on a mac... still have my Switch though, but no FPS games there because it cramps my hands and haven't bought a game there in over two years (same time without buying a game from GOG too... so it's a "me" thing).

Being a "man of lists" myself... I understand perfectly! Yeah, me too... especially lately.

This is the point in the sale where I have to muster all my willpower to avoid purchasing mediocre games just because they are cheap.

Ah, I know this well.

Planned purchases vs impulse buys.

I'm allergic to spreadsheets.

I'm 'sort of' in an analogous(or is it parallel?) boat.

I have too many games to the point where I have analysis paralysis, thinking if I play this game then I'll miss out on this game. To a greater extent it makes me hate myself.

I do the exact same thing, but I do it for Games I already own instead of what i'm going to buy...
I also tally up how much my Library all costs, oO

To be honest, I got my Wishlists in my head, & I don't need a check list for them,
but I have started a check list on Steam, however my chances of buying any of it,
gets slimmer each day, due to all the problems I have with Steam right now.

I haven't bought a Game since 2019 on any Platform, & certainly haven't bought
anything New since 2017 over any Platform, except for Elden Ring on Steam when
it first came out, which I did play, but not for very long.

So far my Favorite Game that i've bought since 2017 has been Dynasty Warriors 9 on Steam,
& I love playing the Arkham Batman Games over at Steam.

However, with many problems surrounding Steam, I have made my way onto GOG
looking for a far better experience. I do not mind older Games, I really don't, but the
problem is? That I much rather play Games of the more Modern Days, like the new
Dynasty Warriors 9 Game...

This has me in a bit of an Issue here?

Where can I play Games on a Computer that allows both old & new Games,
but does not face as much of a crappy problem as Steam does?

EPIC Games seems like the Winner to me, but I was hoping GOG would fill that Gap,
The problem with GOG is that they don't have enough Newer Games, & most of the
GOG Games are too old to be worth buying Today.

However, that isn't a total loss, because we'll Games that don't have a lot of Updates
is far better then Games that are Updated 24/7 all the time with bad Updates, ~_~

I just wish GOG Galaxy had a better way to hold it's Community of Players together,
a more solidly built Client Platform, & had a little bit more structure to it, but I guess that is just me, oO

I'm too lazy too keep track of a list. I usually skim through my wishlist and open new tabs of shop/game pages that grab my attention. After a bit of consideration/research I buy the titles I think I'd like to play right now. It usually works out rather well, with the odd exception of course. :P

I always keep some money in my gog wallet for surprise must haves. :D

In short, I'd say I'm way too impulsive. I just go for games/genres that I'm in the mood for at the time of purchase.

Probably a good way to be. ;)

I tend to purchase games I will play in the future... and... sometimes that future gameplay never comes (or hasn't yet).
