I have to admit that GOG's fuckups are starting to be entertaining. "What will they break next: The Game"

Seriously tho, it is incredible how long this keeps going.

fronzelneekburm: [...] I may be in the minority here, but it's having the opposite effect on me. Before I'd go "Oh, a red discount icon next to this game I'm not really all that interested in, but it's ok for that price. Sold!" whereas now it's like "Fuck it, I'm just going to check on my wishlist if anything I like is discounted, because thank God my wishlist is still displayed as a list rather than tiles where you can't tell what from what." [...]
I made a guess of what the idea behind the layout choices may be, never said it's a good idea, nor that the implementation is working they way it's intended for everyone.

It's a turn off for me as well, and I'm sure that it's the case for a number of others, but apparently GOG's not interested in having customers that make informed decisions.

EnforcerSunWoo: The only way I see that this will be fixed is that we start making more noise concerning on the situation and hope like hell that someone within GOG actually acknowledges the issues at hand. Just getting sick of the same old song and dance around here.
GOG never really cared about any noise made in their forum. One way that may bring some improvements is to be vocal on their social media.

Something is very wrong with the login iframe. Most of the time it crashes with the wheel spinning instead of showing up. When it works, its after 10 minutes. I suspect it jams on bot detection the servers have.

I clear all data every time I close my browsers. I find it very important for security reasons especially when I buy something online. Perhaps its not the expected normal behavior of users but I don't think it is a good idea to antagonize a slim group of people at each change just for the sake of marketing.

Humble Bundle forces me to to get an email with a one time code for each login. I hate this but it is a better compromise than not being able to login at all.
The site still doesn't work for me. I can't checkout, I can't put anything on the wishlist, and today I found out I'd moved to Sweden for some reason. (No, I'm not using a proxy, and my provider's nominal geolocation is smack dab in the middle of the fucking Kremlin.)

As is the case with most businesses these days: The bigger the company gets, the smaller the customer gets.

47 pages of complaints so far????????????

Haven't been here for awhile.
I'm posting this from work, as at home
I have very slow internet and Internet Explorer 11.
The site will not even load, much less than log in.

I can't just go to what's on sale or news section from the home page. It took awhile to find the Sale page.
AND
what's up with 5 pages of gigntic thumbnails?
It doesn't quickly tell what type of game you are
looking at without actually clicking on the thumbnail.

The old list view showed a small thumbnail with the
type of game; shooter, strategy, adventure, etc. and
the price.

Your site is very slow now, and Yuppie-like.
I think most of your customers are older,
not mostly kids.

Can you set up a "Lite" version of your site that
us, who have older computers and slower internet
connections can still participate.

Yeah, GOG has been coding against IE for quite some time now, elements of big sale pages, the profiles, chat broken for a while (though eventually they fixed that), now they just "graduated" to have that coding style apply to the whole site, except the areas as yet left untouched like forum, library or wishlist. Nothing to do with connection speed, it still won't load regardless of how fast your connection would be. Which isn't to say it's not slow and bandwidth-hungry (and also CPU-intensive) when it does work, of course, because it is.

Not so sure. Probably not a case of age in itself though, but of maturity, also including attention span, impulse control, knowing what you want, supporting values. In that sense, the GOG userbase sure used to be some levels above the average, but they've been catering to the same mindless masses and seeking to "train" them to go even lower same as all the rest for years now, so maybe they've succeeded in creating a userbase made primarily of that.

I do admire GoG's commitment to bring me nostalgia. All these DOS/early Windows games to buy, and since they redesigned this place it takes a full 5 seconds to load a page, even a forum page, so I feel like I'm on dial-up again. Party like it's 1999.

But please pardon my cynicism. I'm just really hoping GoG will fix this stuff, because as things are I don't feel any desire to visit this place anymore. It's been at least a few weeks now. I prefer you guys over Steam, but you're quickly losing favour.
(Ignore this post, genre filters are still there, I just didn't see them)

Dear GOG,

You are aware that not everyone uses fullscreen right? Part of the reason to use some javascript elements is to have pages compensate for different window sizes and views. You guys however must of completely missed that fucking memo entirely. Not only is it slow, it's hilariously broken if I open the store on galaxy and have the client windowed.

This is rookie shit, this is stuff they try to teach you to compensate for in first year Uni courses (at least the business oriented ones that are smart enough to know function > form).

Oh and the stupid image upload isn't working either from galaxy for me so here: https://i.imgur.com/THzcRHC.jpg

I find the new design less pratical, more opaque, with less features. So I find hard to say something other then I dislike it. I fail to understand what are the advantages of this new layout and how anyone thought that it outweights the older one.

Decided to post an update of my own.

It's been a month now and it's still the same broken crap and as far as I know, no word from GOG!

I still hover around 40-60% CPU use on my old laptop, which means if I only want to access the forums and lazily go to gog.com instead of the forums directly, I have to deal with a sluggish fiasco momentarily draining my battery. No way in hell am I browsing GOG otherwise, I need that battery to last wtf!

I just went on Galaxy to see if the Halloween sale was still on, and I got reminded of just how awful the experience is on GOG now...

AT LEAST GET RID OF THE GOD DAMN AUTOPLAY THUMBNAILS!

Sorry, I'm usually more collected and nice but this is unacceptable. Vanity is fun and all until it steps on functionality and you did a fine job of throwing that in the bin!

EDIT: Nevermind! (But not really) You do you GOG, keep that head in the sand! For those interested, I stumbled upon this and it makes me feel like I can taste colors! In other words, actually no, I taste colors now...

GOG anniversary design community fix

EDIT2: Still hoping they get around to fixing their damn website and by consequence, Galaxy as well! There are no words vile enough to describe it.

It's awesome the community fixes stuff, but the fact GOG's fucked up one of their primary purposes so badly just has me taking my business elsewhere.

I'm all for "DRM-free", but it's hard to trust a business that apparently has so little respect for it's customers time/effort/etc. It'd be one thing if this was the first time GOG's marketing schemes have massively missed the mark. It's not... at all. Plus what good is a business that cares more about twitter drama than actual user issues? Bet you half the people bent over the twitter shit don't use or seldom use GOG.

Same here on galaxy.
Everything is so broken and messy.
Everything.

It's sort of impressive how bad of job they did on this site. Some of these issues are rookie mistakes you expect to find on illegit sites or brand new things.

This level of sloppiness won't help them at all with new customers. People question credibility when stuff is too sloppy/untested. Whoever designed this and greenlit it has either has no training or needs to request a refund from whoever "taught" them.
