It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Regarding checking news, seems like the RSS still works (thanks AlienMind). For how long is anyone's guess, now that it's no longer linked (and that link was removed since they replaced the footer, not just now). Not that you should have to resort to this when the whole point of a front page should be to show the latest stuff going on, but...

And just adding one more voice to those crying out about these dreadful design trends taking over the Internet for years now.

As for no text, mainly images and video, reminded me of this...
"But the Stream, mobile applications, and moving images: They all show a departure from a books-internet toward a television-internet. We seem to have gone from a non-linear mode of communication — nodes and networks and links — toward a linear one, with centralization and hierarchies.

The web was not envisioned as a form of television when it was invented. But, like it or not, it is rapidly resembling TV: linear, passive, programmed and inward-looking."

Splatsch: - First, main page doesn't works well now for me : things are missing/broken (I'm using latest version of Pale Moon).
Was wondering about that, but so far two others said it worked fine.

Me all of this reminds me more and more this : https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/
Yeah, I saw it, but... nope, not for me :/ I even tried a portable Pale Moon : exactly the same. I tried with FF to be sure it wasn't my comp' : of course no issue. Buuut... I'm using PM, not FF ^^"

Edit : Damn, I can't get the shortened urls to work correctly XD

lolplatypus: See attachment.
Frankly, I don't know what your problem is. It's clearly visible. Just as visible as the "Discover GOG Galaxy" button.

Breja: No need to get brusque. Yeah, that's what it looked like yesterday and it's back for me now, but I could swear that it was entirely gone eariler today, when I made that post. I should have made a screenshot.
You mean this (see picture)? I don't see any news. Don't know why.

Firefox. So it could be, I might need to tick or untick a checkbox in Firefox? (I have no idea about these technical things, so please forgive my probably dumb question.)

There's no dumb question don't worry :) I'm not on Firefox since a lot of time so don't know if I can really help but.. Have you updated to the last version ? (sometimes the issue is simply using an outdated version of the browser)

I still remember the last changes to the website a few years ago, especially to the game pages. These were already bad, mediocre at best. Now you've somehow made it worse, wasting even more space (the video on top...) and hiding even more information. It was never harder to find what you are actually looking for. Did you do this to please mobile device users? If so, why don't you have a switchable design, one for desktop users and one for mobile devices?
I don't feel like I'm browsing PC games on the current shop.

ZMacZ: Anyone disliking the 'new' GOG ?
Very much so.

Can't. Firefox let me know newer versions feel offended by my old computer and therefore refuse to live there ;-) or something like this. Thank you for your suggestion though. :-)
But if you are not using Firefox and can't see the news, it could be a different reason.
Well. I guess I will just have to check the general forum for announcements then.

Ah, I see XD You're welcome :)
Well, Pale Moon is sometimes considered by some websites as an outdated version of firefox... So it could be the issue : that the page wasn't thought/tolerant for other browsers than latest version of Chrome & Firefox. But it's only a supposition :P
As some others said, there's the RSS too, if it can help you. (I'm discovering it too : you subscribe on the page and in fact it will create a bookmark who will show you all the latest updates of the page you just suscribed)(if I understood well XD)

I see. So it could be because its outdated. :-/
Thank you for pointing out this RSS thing. Completely overlooked that. Bookmarked for now because I don't like subscriptions (I understand it the same as you, I think), so I will have to think about it. Have a nice day. :-)

Is this a joke? This design is nonmetaphorically nauseating. Why would anyone think this was a good idea???
It takes five times longer to load, wastes incredible amounts of space and uses so much javascript behind the scenes that even scrolling is lagging for me. “Mobile first” is the plague of the internet. Everything needs to span the ENTIRE SCREEN, be it the obstrusive image at the top of every game page that you need to scroll past or the whitespace-ridden margin-free descriptions and UI elements. They took a page that fit at the screen at once and spaced it so wide apart that you need to scroll five times before you even get to the comments.

The only other website as comically disorienting i could think of is the reddit “redesign”, but they at least give you the option (for now) to turn it off.

First the aggressive Galaxy-pushing, then the disappearance of installers for different versions and now this. Really make you feel taken seriously as a user.

You can use something like The Old Reader for feeds too. What I'm using at least. RSS used to be how people got feeds of stuff from multiple sources in one place before Facebook, and in the early years Facebook offered RSS feeds too, before it managed to make everyone give up control of content distribution to them entirely. RSS is decentralized, just subscribe to the sites and get the stuff... for those that still use it, which are sadly fewer and fewer. (You'd think even those who dropped it, or never used it, would (re)discover it now, with what Fb is doing, but apparently not, even had a couple of the sites I was subscribed to drop RSS feeds AFTER the latest Fb changes that nuked their reach on there...)

As for the site, yeah, like I was saying, a place started on nostalgia and brought up by a core user base interested in older stuff, or at least stuff that works and looks like things used to even if it is in fact newer, now wants to be the pinnacle of modern web design and technology use, so it only works with the latest FF and Chrome (possibly Safari too?). IE, older versions of FF, apparently at least in some cases Palemoon, likely other lesser known browsers as well, nope, they don't want us around. (Wonder about old versions of Chrome too, like those using 32-bit, not to mention XP.) And you'd think a store would want everyone to be able to use it. (On that note, my dad still has a computer with XP on it, so imagine what browsers are there. Occasionally get asked what to do if this or that site won't work for him anymore, but I'm yet to hear of him having any issues ordering something on-line from a store from here...)

Subscribing to a RSS feed is just from your end, not theirs. When you "subscribe" you tell your reader, which may be a feature of your browser (fewer browsers, that is, with FF removing RSS support now too, and Chrome and Edge not having it) or some on-line service or other software, to add it to the list of feeds to check for you. Then it checks all when you go check your feeds, or every so often while you keep it open, and tells you what's new on each.

Aw, just missed the 10 min mark to have it automatically edit the last post, eh? 11 min...

Another voice of discontent here, agreeing w/ comments on wasted space, lost utility (effort needed to find stuff), horrid large images that block everything and require clicks to move on, and others.... I have less chance of buying stuff because of the annoyance and not seeing the options quickly but that might change over time.

However, there are a couple of things that I haven't seen in the handful of pages I've reviewed (easily could be on one of the other pages). First, I have to scroll down (past the 10 yr anniversary game packs) to login (the login box pops up when I get down there. Really?). I thought I wasn't able to login at first with the wheel of death just spinning (I gave it a while given the increased load times). If I hadn't randomly scrolled down, I would be "locked out" still. Secondly, I can't vote (the link on the vote box is the same as the link to the game and brings me to the game page w/ no additional mechanism for voting that I can find). What should I be seeing? I wonder if I'll be able to get the free game, whatever it is.

Yikes.
