djoxyk: what do you mean? gog had this option on store page and in galaxy, also you have it in your game library. option to filter by OS is not new
I mean, for example in case of Windows, didn't you use to be able to filter by XP/Vista/7/8/10 too, not just have a single Windows category which doesn't tell you whether it's compatible with your version, as it is now?

I see, makes sense! Older version had sub versions for OSes, tho I never paid an attention to that section because it's useless for Linux (maybe more useful for Mac users as they have strict requirements).

Well, I guess this is as good a thread as any in which to post my gripes with this redesign.

Autoplaying videos are bad. Always. No matter what part of whatever site they're on (other than streaming video sites like YouTube -- and even then, there are situations when they suck). Now, I appreciate that you (GOG) disabled the autoplay on the large video on the top of a product page; I still don't know why that video needs to be there at all, given that 1.) there is no sound, 2.) there are no controls, other than the "close video" button in the corner, 3.) part of the absurdly large "buy" box overlaps the video, and, most importantly, 4.) there is the perfectly serviceable row of videos and screenshots just below the title and aforementioned buy box, and the video(s) accessed from there DO have controls. But...whatever. If marketing nabobs think there's gotta be video front and center, fine. As long as it doesn't autoplay, and the page doesn't load slower because of the presence of the inert video, it's fine.

What is NOT fine is to make a little visual preview of a game pop up any time the mouse cursor so much as grazes one of the game tiles. I mean, the concept of having some info about a game pop up on hover-over is a good one, but as so often is the case, the focus is on entirely the wrong things, and the implementation is not the greatest.
Worst thing first: In case you missed it, Autoplaying. Videos. Are. Bad. Yes, even when they are muted; and yes, even when they "only" play whenever you hover over the wrong page element for a split second. One of the reasons I don't often visit the front page of Netflix these days is that they've started adding autoplaying trailers/teasers/promo loops on fucking everything, including places where the user hasn't even clicked on or hovered over anything -- just scrolling too slowly past/stopping on the wrong section of the page will trigger it. Regardless of what some would like to think, this is not the new normal, any more than it became the new normal for mutimedia ads to autoplay on the internet of 15 years ago -- that's why ad blockers were invented, and later grew to contribute significantly to the current Adpocalypse: because people didn't (and still don't) like that shit.
(I can just about imagine the GOG honchos' thought process behind this: "Major Companies X, Y and Z are hugely profitable. Major Companies X, Y and Z have started using autoplaying videos as a sort of on-site advertising. Maybe if we try to ape that kind of thing, we'll become hugely profitable, too!" In truth, companies as big as Netflix (and Steam? I assume this is done on Steam) are so wealthy and ubiquitous that they can get away with a lot of stupid, customer-hostile moves...up to a point. They are where they are not because of those moves, in other words, but in spite of them.)
Apart from that one (major) thing, the idea of a pop-up info card is worthwhile. I don't even mind the slideshow of static screenshots that plays for games that don't have a video in their "media carousel"; It just shouldn't be the only new info presented on the pop-up card. Genres, release year, average user rating? None of that pops up. The game's title does, and that's okay...but it's also kind of unnecessary since, for the most part, the game or package title is usually pretty visible in the game tile art itself. But whatever. Point is, this is a missed opportunity to provide a bit more basic info (besides game visuals) without the user having to click through to the product page. Just make the pop-up info card a little bit larger, add some basic info points that aren't already visible on the tile before hovering, and get rid of the accursed autorunning vids. I would also suggest that the delay between mouseover and the tile expanding to provide the additional info/slideshow be set to something a bit longer -- closer to a full second would be good for me. : )

Beyond all that, I haven't got a lot to say, because I haven't really messed around with the new interface a lot yet. The new review system looks* good, as long as votes ("helpful" or not) are remembered and counted, and as long as people who don't own the game here can still post reviews.
The new "browse catalogue" page is extra-bland, overall. I'm sure a lot of people miss the list view; personally, I miss the ability to filter by different editions of a given OS (Windows 8 support, for example, instead of just "Windows"). Also: Why are there still separate filters for "Racing" and "Sports" games, despite the two actually (and very sensibly, given the total number in the catalogue) being one category in the backend? And there's still no way to filter DLC out of search results. -_-

I'm sure a lot of this was already said, but I haven't had the time nor the inclination these last few days to keep up-to-date in all of the...[does a quick count]...roughly 578 different GOGiversary-related topics in the forum.

*Superficially; again, haven't really used the sorting & filtering yet.

Linko90: There's a fix in play that will hide your number of games owned if your privacy settings reflect it. E.g. if you have your settings on the most private, your number of games won't be reflected when leaving a review.

As said before, it's teething pains and we're constantly taking feedback and working towards improvements.
Please change this! It shouldn't only hide for people with most private settings, it should only show for people with most public settings. Otherwise it will show the world how many games someone who has set "friends only" has.

For me this means that to play Stardew Valley in multiplayer I have to show the world how many games I have. I have my settings set to "friends only" for some things (and "only me" for the rest) just to be able to play that one game and not be public, and no one who isn't on my friends list should see that info :(

Please remove the number of games shown from the reviews of all people who doesn't have their profile set to completely public, I am not OK with others sharing my info even though I have my settings to friends only (and I also have chosen to only have two people in my friends list just to be able to stay private and still play Stardew Valley) :(

fronzelneekburm: It's like someone on the webdev team said "You know what? Words are stupid! Let's get rid of those! Let''s put pictures everywhere instead."
And you know what? They're bloody right. Good copy is (1) hard and (2) kinda dishonest, because it overemphasizes the skill of the writer and their ability to convey or imitate excitement. And bad copy is Stephen Bond's Crap Criticism (tm). Videogames should sell themselves.

Please get rid of word breaks in reviews. Each feels like a hiccup, and I'm torn between compassion toward the reviewer and extreme annoyance ("please drink some water, dammit!"). The column is wide enough for dynamic spacing to always look ok.

djoxyk: game thumbnail don't have game title unless you hover your mouse cursor over it to see enlarged thumb.
The title is on the thumbnail. (It's also in the html code of the page. Now, I don't know how it interacts with screen readers and I don't have a screen reader installed on my home PC, but most GOG videogames aren't for people who need screen readers.)

Imo I would go one further...It shouldn't show by default for anyone, even those who have everything set to the maximum "everything public, Facebook=trusted" GALACTIC difficulty setting. Any new features that reveal user information (even if the user had revealed same information by choice in another place) should be OPT-IN by default. User consent matters.

V4V: Years ago, I went away from Humble for good since they made their website unbearable slow and cumbersome. Please don't repeat their mistake, GOG!
I have a few games on Bundle but I haven't downloaded them. Their website is such a chaotic place that I just can't bare to go back there. Last time I visited it looked like twenty different advertisement companies were having an all out war on the page I was trying to find my games on. Made me dizzy and I just gave up trying to work out how the website worked.

But when I joined GOG I remember just being able to tell what's what without having to work for it at all. That's how a store should be. Intuitive and with all info you need right in front of you :) Please tweak the new GOG so that it becomes intuitive and easy to use again :)

Feedback on the catalogue view: Please add an option to view this as a list again like we used to have. It's far easier to browse a list by having our eyes just move downward, instead of the right-down-left-right-down-left-right-down-left- etc etc that we now have to do. It makes me dizzy having to move my eyes back and forth so quickly, and I also have to move them a lot extra to find and read out the game titles that all now have different fonts, sizes, colours since it's the game logos.
After a few lines I had to give up since I can't tell anything about the games and I'm getting dizzy, especially since I use a mouse and the cursor automatically hover over stuff as I scroll down and things start popping out and moving and the titles disappear (and reappear in very hard to see grey somewhere else than where my eyes was) and screenshots or Youtube loading circles and videos appear instead, all the while I have no idea what game it is trying to show me since the name is gone until I scroll on and the cursor moves.

All in all, one should not have to work hard to find things to buy. It should be very very easy to browse.

Nope, sorry.

1. Stop autoplay popups. I hate this on Steam but at least they have an option to stop it until the end. This is for the front banner as well as the store page. Makes it hard for those of us on low bandwidth connections.
2. Store page doesn't show the game titles. Reading some fonts is hard and they don't all use the same format.
3. Leading me to... I don't know how that looks in list view. I can't seem to find it if it's there.
4. Owned titles are now even harder to see.
5. The genre/search bar takes up about a quarter of the screen. No reason to waste so much space.
6. Preview box was better. Now all thumbnails are hard to see unless you click on them which brings up the full version. Again low bandwidth connections.
7. The big banner on the game cards is a waste of space. I don't think anybody cares for seeing it just to have to scroll to see any real content.
8. Goodies and system requirements are at the bottom while leaving empty space on the right. These are often the first things I check.
9. Series recommendation is also way at the bottom with no mention of titles, discount or individual prices.
10. News items looked better on the left with the "discovery" list to the right. They now look like games instead.

It seems as if more was shifted around or removed than any real design changes. Now for what I like/could be better
1. Nice touch with the filters but they could be made to move independently from the games list which can also move independently from the rest of the page. They also pop up every time I visit it. It should remember my last setting but it doesn't so I have to hide it every time.
2. This would have been the perfect opportunity to introduce more genres to select from and also make filters multiple choice.
3. Would still like to see exclusion filters or at least an invert selection.
4. That elusive exclude owned games option.
5. Group DLCs under their respective titles and not the store page. This would also mean special editions are visible in one place.

Pheace: Excellent, surely they will have used this opportunity to finally add direct links to the game foru.... Oh

Well, guess that pretty much confirms they have no interest in doing that.

mk47at: Why would they? It would make it easier to see which game is terribly outdated. They finally managed to get rid of the pesky mixes…
Actually GOG already sends the forum link as data together with the game card page. They just do not display it on the page. That might take another 10 years. :P
You could have used the Barefoot Essentials extension to display the links, but only until GOG screwed up the game cards. The overhaul of the community extensions and scrips probably will require a lot of work and take some time.
Wow this update is indeed terrible. All they had to do was remove the clutter of DLC, soundtracks, special editions and stuff. Now they completely ruined their own site.

I feel like for many people this is going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

GOG will soon realize that people dont care so much about DRM if they have to put up with this mess. This bad move is going to drive down sales and cost them a lot.

Steam is also in the process of ruining itself with the terrible new chat & friends UI, and soon they will update the whole client UI as well which is bound to be a mess too.

Discord is going to start selling games and reap massive profits off the incompetence of both GOG and Steam

The only good part of this is the new 'verified owner' system that now renders shill reviews useless (i.e. Pillars or Eternity 2 now has 3.5)

After spending some more time with this, yea I have to agree the large video on the store page is kinda dumb, Especially with no sound and is redundant since it's just playing the first video which is listed right below it.

I spent a few min modifying it and changed the height to 300px and removed the video player. Looks way better, so yea I agree this needs to be changed.

EDIT:

Andy why does: Why buy on GOG.com - keep moving from top, to bottom and then back to the top. I swear I have seen this move about 5 times today.

I won’t bitch too much as the important thing is I can view the game specs before purchase and purchase rather effortlessly then play OFF-LINE DRM FREE.

My uh... w/e
I always wanted the option to just open up reviews and read the slog on a single page even if there were 50 pages.

I don’t recall if it says “owned” now or just “in library.” There’s also wishlist notation.

Funny it says 331 games but when I hit collection it jumps to 365. No biggie.

I wish when I clicked on my wishlist it would label the “on-sale” and % off. I like quick reference when deciding what to waste my $ on. Guess I’ll mention that to GoG.

Can’t scroll pictures or vids as easy on mobile like before.

During search on mobile I had my inquiry keep erasing.

Option to turn larger icon game links into just a small thumbnail and/or list of games to easily scroll down like before. Just a toggle switch. It’s good you have the option for big pics/words for those who need giant magnifying glasses but we aren’t all like that.

Other than that.... seems fine.
