Anyone playing Baldur's Gate 3? If so, what do you think? Worth playing in EA... or ... should a person wait until release?
They are waiting for a turn to end...
Intros trailers were stunning!

If you liked DOS2 turn based combat you will like the game. If you are anxious to check it out I see no reason not to buy now unless you are planning to wait for a major sale long after its release. The next major update is this month though so you may want to wait for that.

I have confidence Larien studios will make it a great game. It's more serious in tone than DOS2 which I think is good. It feels AAA. Much higher production values on all the cutscenes etc. And there's quite a lot to do in it even now w/ just Act 1.

I don't believe there has ever been a CRPG w/ this level of production values. So it's like if a CRPG had modern Dragon Age levels of graphics and budget. Fully voiced, insanely beautiful character creation options, motion captured cutscenes, etc. It's worth the price.

Ah, so only Act 1 is playable in EA. I wasn't aware of that.

Yes, it does look pretty. Glad to hear it's a bit more serious than DoS II, but from a casual glance it sure does look like it.

Right. But that's about 1/3 of the game. It's substantial, maybe 30 hours. So like I said, if you are the type who is curious about it and wants to try builds of different classes and does not mind restarting over when the final game releases next year I think it's fine to buy.

But if you want a product that you can play thru from start to finish, the EA is certainly not that.

Part... part one of three is THIRTY HOURS?!

Even if the next two thirds are one half as long each, that's still an hour of gameplay per dollar spent!

Just like the classic RPGs of yore.

It's not going to be a small game. That's for sure.
Ive followed it quite much, its hit or miss. I still plan to play it though. Sucks to say but I think Larian might die too, not cool after 20 year in game industry. Grim Reaper is close, imho. Well I dont exactly know how much CRPG production costs are etc, all we know could be quite little. I hope Im wrong.
