I'm tempted actually. It looks like a really solid remaster, with some nice enchangements, most notable that your characters wont expire. And you can set the language to Japanese which would be ... an experince. I also think there is something really pleasing about the clear, crisp visuals of Diablo II, which makes this old thing have some value beyond nostalgia.

Only thing is that I pretty much already played it. I kind of almost wish that they would be less faithful to the origin, and add at least something new. On the other hand, the nostalgia is strong in this one.

Personally I've never been that interested in the online multi-player aspect, but as long as it remains DRM'd ("Requires Battle.net DRM and a constant internet connection for all game modes" even for single player), then I'm not interested in it at all. The original + widescreen patch + PlugY is good enough for me (I did a Necromancer run earlier in the year and it still plays absolutely fine).

It already isn't faithful at all to the original, but rather it's retconned woke SJW propaganda, just like all other modern Blizzard games.

I believe this time it "only" needs an online connection to launch, so you won't get kicked out of singleplayer for internet issues. Not defending that though, it's still ludicrous.

Anyway I don't like these games enough to give into the DRM or use Battle.net. It looks like a fairly good remaster though, that stuff aside.

Wasn't always Batllenet a requirement for multiplayer part in every Blizzard game? even old Diablo II?
I will let you know my opinion on Diablo II Resurrected when Activision-Blizzard Entertainment sell it on gog.com, with the original version of Diablo II included.

Until then I cannot give a opinion because I do not know what Diablo II Resurrected plays like.

"Even for singleplayer."

Also Diablo 2 probably had LAN options, though I honestly don't remember.
I'm going to buy it. I'll wait until the end of the month to see if it gets any discounts (thought I doubt it), then I'll pick it up. I really enjoyed the original, and it looks like a faithful remaster. It might be a negative point to some, but a lot of the sales probably comes from old fans.

The server issues made me wary when it came out, but it all seems to have been resolved by now. IIRC Diablo 3 had a similar problem with servers. I bought it maybe two weeks after release and never ran into any problems.

This is an aside, but you can toggle between resurrected and classic directly from the game.

IT'S AWESOME! Worth every penny.
You can actually see scrawl on books. Not actual letters but enough to make it look like there is writing on them.

Unless you want to MP. The serves are still a mess, akin to the overload disaster that came with the release if D3,so give that some time.

I believe Diablo II had a LAN option. Via "Other multiplayer" but honestly neither do I remember exactly

The original did, Resurrected does not. I learned this in the Blizzard forums when people found out and started screaming obscenities and death threats at the Blizzard employees.

Always-online Multiplayer-DRM?

Yes, with the other multiplayer. You basically had to put in the IP address of the server/hosting player.

I don't recall if dialup was an option still, unlike Starcraft which had that as an option.

Well. And I did consider GOG forums extremelly hostile occasionally :D

You can play the original Diablo 2 without Battle.net:
- single player
- LAN multiplayer
- direct IP multiplayer

From these game modes, none is available without the Blizzard client on the remaster.
