pds41: To be fair, they did release three new old games today.
To be even more fair, Ziggurat has released dozens of old games this year. I think the tiresome "why doesn't GOG get any old games" complaints are really "why doesn't GOG have this one very specific old game I'm thinking of," because GOG still gets lots of old games.

GOG did the dunce move of announcing the dang thing several quarters advance of the potential ready date.

Fair, but most of the really good old games have already been re-released. We're in to diminishing returns at this point.

I have a feeling they were not even aware of its existence till users asked on the forum. Guess Quake doesn't let you date anyone in the game so it wasn't deemed worthy :P
