Been looking at EVE and other such games that look like that those fp2/pay thing but tried my first space game strike suit vector and MY GOD I have been missing out on some interesting games.

My question is does anyone know anything that is great that I can fly my own ship and do upgrades and the whole shablam like eve and whatnot?
low rated
all of the wing commander games and the xwing/tie fighter games.

Wing commander privateer you can't create your ship but you can buy and upgrade.

starpoint gemini 2 is a lot like freelancer...if its that what u are looking for....u start with an small ship and when u level further and get more money by missions/trading/battle u can get bigger ship and better weapons...

btw if u look for an f2p element like battlestar galactica/darkorbit: u can mine asteroids too XD

I did not notice this game on GOG at all :O yeah it looks kinda like EVE and this you can explore systems and get cool ships and mine and do all sorts of cool stuff?
Can you do upgrades in IDWar 2?

That's always been my favorite and it offers so much more than just combat because sometimes running and hiding can be just as fun! :D

Also I always got a kick out of just hanging out by a jump point, waiting for the perfect freighter to come by, fire a warning shot over his head, watch him dump his cargo, get the cargo, get out of Dodge before the fuzz arrives. :D

A really good one here, that still looks great after all these years is Freespace / 2. You can't totally upgrade, but you can outfit with missle loadouts and such. Are you looking for something where you can bust out your flightstick, or more mouse / keyboard type stuff?

I've had my eye on Starpoint Gemini 2 for a while as well, but I thought this was less about fast paced joystick action and more leveling up your ship and positioning a captial class vessel?
Planet's Edge is old,but still a good one..
Tachyon: The fringe is a good one... not much you can upgrade but it's pretty cool
other than freelancer u can get the big ships too like destroyers carriers and dreadnoughts...the devs announced that they will implement a titan class too

u can mine...capture enemy ships...fight...do missions...trade....pirate other ships/stations...do bounty hunting etc....your faction relations depends on your behavior (good guys will be hated by pirates and vice verca...

the ship classes are gunboats corvettes cruisers destroyers dreadnoughts freighters and freightliners(bigger trade ships) as i know about 70 different ships...all buyable (or u can capture em)
has this game starpoint gemini 2 been on the sale ? I dont think I seen it unless I am blind
You should check out the X series for a balance between sandbox, economic and spaceflight sim.

X3 is probably the best place to start for someone new to the genre /series (out of the series - they're quite deep, but the sandbox play lets you play how you want).

Edit: linking superbox on steam for reference - http://store.steampowered.com/sub/6330/

Couple weeks ago it was actually 50% off (~$17). I was bummed I didn't pick it up, but feel better about it now knowing that Insomnia was right around the corner ;)

It's actually very high on my "list" as well!
Evochron Mercenary is pretty good
didnt see it on sale so i dunno...it was on sale when i bought it XD...btw the devs still update the game and the first dlc is out too (not yet on gog)...it seems to be a large add on with 3 new ships a new storyline and new stuff...
