It's been recently brought to my attention that NexusMods is involved in selective censorship of what modders are allowed to upload. If you know of any alternatives for Cyberpunk mods please lmk. If I am able to avoid supporting them, I'd rather not.

I was looking for a "Judy for male V" Cyberpunk mod which I learned apparently got removed for changing her sexuality. The irony is that I found out about this on a "Panam for fem V" mod which turns a straight character gay (good mod btw). I did some surface level digging and found out the company just simply runs that way and has a history of selective censorship. People have complained but the response has been they're private so they can do as they please. Fair enough, so what are the alternatives?

there is alternate host sites I have heard but no one ever names em on here or elsewhere they just say'' find em yourself'' so while I can't help you I can say odds are your query here will only get you accusations of bigotry for the reasons you gave though for me personally I kinda just dropped modding as a whole as every place I have formerly used has went the direction you noted Nexus has in only allowing content of a specific kind despite the fact Nexus like the others I have used shown to now have a double standard

Well there is moddb. Curiously it's not as popular as it was 20 years ago... nexusmods requires registration... and double-standard selective censorship isn't the only way it has upset modders. Yet... for some reason it's still more popular than moddb. :/

ModDB and Gamebanana are the ones I've been keeping an eye on.

I'd be surprised. I fully endorse the mod that bisexualizes Panam (using it right now), just not a fan Judy's version being hidden. I see, I'll keep a look out. And that's a shame to hear tbh, it's bad enough if the studios are doing this but if other gamers start censoring each other too then we haven't really made any progress.

Yeah, I am still relatively new to PC gaming (like 2-3 years in), NM was the only modding site I heard about when it came to mods.

I see community basically managed to do the same thing without being as obvious, lol. Thanks for the links, looks like the same process as the Panam version which makes removing the original even more silly.

Keep in mind ModDB usually parrots whatever Nexus does when it comes to selective censorship, usually just a bit later. The main advantage of DB is the no account requirement.

As for Nexus itself, it's been becoming a dictatorial hellhole for a while now, starting with "you don't own the mods you upload here" and ending with "no, you are not allowed to mod your game this way".

As for alternatives, there are even a couple which host mainly those mods Nexus and other mainstream mod sites decide to nuke.

Whoops, missed this reply earlier. I actually made a post maybe a month or two ago talking about how going back to a controller has made gaming more enjoyable for me again. Switching to PC was nice and all but keyboard + mouse gaming quickly became a chore for me. As far as I see it if you're gaming on a PC then you're a PC gamer, pretty simple.

I just came across a post about this earlier on one of the Cyberpunk mods uploaded to ModDB.

"As the orginal mod was removed due to Nexus messing with creators & their charcter Presets for cyberpunk 2077 they deamed not "actual mods" anymore they created & deleteing their own content from them not even returing the files to the creators besides your own backups let this serve as a warning to who ever puts their trust for their work in nexus for doing that so for those 100s who enjoyed the presets it will stay on moddb it may even be expanded."

Also just found a cool model swap for Panam which was nuked from Nexus (see attatched image to probably guess why - SFW, just a white version of Panam).

They'll get away with it though since the average person downloading mods wouldn't notice these things. Like I said, I only found out because I was specifically looking for a mod that turend out to have been censored. I wouldn't have exactly guessed that the same website hosting explicitly sexual/violent mods is the same website censoring another mod for changing some code that lets players date a character.

Curseforge, Modland, Mod.io, Moddrop, others exist.

Oh nice, Modland actually has a lot of the type of Cyberpunk mods I'd usually get on Nexus. A quick search says they don't scan mods themselves though so I guess I'll have to be careful with it. Thanks though.

Perhaps the chip on the shoulder that resembles a 2x4 being swung at people for political agendas gets on the nerves of some people?

LoversLab has a lot of content dealing with sex. ModDB as another mentioned, has odds and ends of everything. The only other option would be to know who posted the mod you wanted and to direct message them.

If you do dm them via nexus and you say anything that person doesnt like. They tend to ban you altogether. They roll that way. I asked a modder guy for help once with his mod and he called a moderator on me.....for asking about a color shader....seriously.

Seems everyone has a stick up therir backside these days.
