JesperU: I have a question. I weight in on about 70 kg and I'm quite short for my length due to birth defect in my spine.
So yeah, I'm overweight. Or rather obese.

Anyway, on to my question. I seem to have problems sleeping lying down. It appears that i can only sleep while sitting up, leaning against a wall. The problem with this is I get some serious pains in my neck, shoulders and upper back in the morning. Do this have something to do with my weight, that I can't sleep lying down?
It also sounds like you don't exercise at all. You can't just sit around being sick/"defected" and expect everything to stay the same. You only get worse with inactivity, never better.

He already said in his second post that he's trying to do something about it.

I think getting a pedometer would be motivating to walk more. At least it is for me.

Crackpot.756: Woah there. What's wrong with tea? Thought that was supposed to be healthy.
Depends on one's biochemistry and also what is in the tea. Tea often has flouride in it for example, but can also leech other bad stuff from the soil depending on where it is planted. Assuming one has tea that isn't loaded with toxic waste though, tea and coffee are diuretics and can cause inflammation of the joints and hasten degeneration due to lack of joint lubrication being diuretic.

When I removed the diuretics from my diet, years of joint pain faded away over several weeks, and returned only when I started drinking them again for another week or so.

I never had any problems with caffeine however, and I consume other caffeine containing non-diuretics without problems.

zeogold: He could be eliminating caffeine, which would include most black teas.
Naw, just the diuretic aspect.

Yep, fat/chubby here but not at the point of obesity thankfully. Depression and developing a bad binge eating habit is not fun BUT I am doing something about it and getting myself to lose weight again and get back into proper shape, both in the physical health sense and mental to stop binging on junk.

skeletonbow: [tea]
So, what else do you drink, 'side from water?

Mostly filtered Brita water but also:

- water with a splash of lemon juice or fresh lemon or lime infusion
- fennel tea - which is not actually tea but just fennel seeds in boiling water
- hot lemon and ginger
- homemade fruit smoothies made with nut or coconut milk, fresh or frozen fruit and a variety of other various ingredients depending on the recipe (ginger, turmeric, cocoa, chia, many other things)
- homemade hot chocolate (cocoa+sugar, sometimes made with water other times with nut milk)
- homemade vegetable/fruit juices made with a high end blender or juicer
- chocolate almond milk
- almond milk, cashew milk, coconut milk (although usually as ingredients rather than plain)

On very rare occasions I might buy a jug of pre-made orange juice sometimes straight up, other times used in smoothies.

I would say that 80-90% of the time it's just plain old filtered water though.

Pfft. I admire your dedication.

I can't even afford a water filter. Tap water all the way. Plus(green) tea, cow milk and whiskey. (I'm curious now what you eat to go along with this disturbingly healthy liquid life style, but maybe that's too much derailment.)

Obviously in the same way people are trying to get rich by Googling "how to make lots of money fast online from home". If he was serious about it he'd be doing it already, not *trying*.

If you cut out the Whiskey and other crap you could. But priorities YO.

Yeah, I'm aware, mom. There's not a lot of other crap, but even without whiskey, I'd probably use any leftover money to buy higher quality food. ... Or more chocolate.

I'd buy you chocolate and I would like to take you to Oktoberfest for festivities..

I started out a few years ago looking for new healthy foods/dishes to try, then taking the best of them that I enjoyed the most and adding them to my diet slowly over time in an effort to improve my overall health. As I added healthier foods more and more over time I ended up eating less and less unhealthy foods and I felt a lot better so I kept doing it. The more I ate healthier stuff, the less I ate of unhealthy stuff naturally and eventually I decided to stop eating some of the unhealthy stuff. Over the last 4 years I've changed my diet around to eating mostly fresh fruit and vegetables, beans/lentils, and other fresh food and slowly eliminated almost all forms of processed food and junk food from my diet. I still have the odd treat or not-so-healthy thing from time to time but never buy that sort of thing with any regularity.

I now cook all my own homemade foods, sauces etc. all from scratch using fresh ingredients almost all of the time and feel healthier than I ever did for years. I discovered a lot of fantastic healthy foods and recipes along the way and reversed a number of bad health issues by the various changes I made. Best part is for all the foods I eventually stopped eating - I don't miss any of them and I never gave up anything forcibly, and if I ever feel like having something not so healthy once in a blue moon I go ahead and do it with no major consequences, then back to my new norm.

It does take some learning along the way, and consumes more time to prepare everything myself but it's all about the flavour/taste and ultimately the health factor and feeling as great as possible in the end so it's worth it for me. :)

What about pizza. Do you make your own? Also, does all of that mean you're a vegetarian or vegan, or do you just stick to trustworthy sources of meat ... or do you shoot your own moose?
I know what fat is, but what is obese?

LoLz, good one Fräulein, you funny.
