Phc7006: You mentionned Hegemony. The other 2 games in the series are worth mentioning as well (Hegemony Rome & Hegemony III)
Yes

Phc7006: 0 A.D. ?
O, looks cool. Thanks for a tip.

Phc7006: The latter is the initial game. The former is the revised version, including the Age of Augustus "expansion" ( read : revision ) pack.
Ah, I see. Thanks for clarification.
Update:

Legion Arena Gold - bought
Praetorians - bought

Hegemony 2&3 - you are next! (BTW, criminally underrated game serie, very innovative and seamless gameplay)

Extended Greek mod, Diadochi mod, and especially Greek Wars mod for Rome Total War - absolutely amazing!
Seeing how Defender of the Crown is available on GOG, I'm surprised Centurion: Defender of Rome isn't here. It's kind of Defender of the Crown except set in ancient Rome.

O, thanks for refreshing my memory, I knew about this game but somehow completely forgot about it. It's available on some... ehm, non-commercial sites :)

$40 for a game, damn... Maybe it's time to sell myself into slavery?

Of course, it's mentioned in the starting post (named globally Civlizations). TBH I personally sincerely think that Civilization serie still can't surpass its own sophomore effort (i.e. Civilization 2 along with Test of Time spinoff). But I have Civ3 and Civ4 installed as well - for Ancient Mediterranean mod, obviously ;)

Yes, I did notice this game, it looks very promising. But I still can't get the info from the devs, is this Steam-free (I purchase only DRM-free games on Steam).
Ancient Empires

This is a very old platforming game. I remember playing it in the school computer labs in the early 90's. I'm not sure where you could obtain this game legally though.

Thanks, I did find it. It's 1990 game, fully named Super Solvers: Challenge of the Ancient Empires!. And one can "obtain" it, though not competely legally :)
